please support original music

Hi everyone there on muziboo. I’m sort of new to this portal but the very 1st thing I have noticed in this short span of time is that most of the people here are uploading the covers of some already well known songs. I understand that if you are just a vocalist (& not a composer, instrument player etc), it’s ok to get a -1/karaoke track of a song & just record your vocals over it & upload it. I mean it’s good that people add their own inputs to the songs & create their own version of the given song. But sadly, it is becoming a trend here that many people are doing only covers & very few are taking efforts to go beyond & do something of their own. The whole concept of ‘cover’ songs has arisen from the need of a given musician who thinks that he can do some value addition to the original song or make some different version altogether of the given song or simply devote a tribute to the original musician, by adding his touch. That’s when you can say that he has ‘covered’ a particular song (in his own way). But over here I have seen that many people have just done the same thing that was there in the original song which is absolutely pointless. Also, people/common listeners have this tendency to ignore songs that are new/unknown/unheard & listen to only famous cover songs (from some movies, mostly). We all need to change this & support original music & back the artists who are doing it. We all know that it’s much more tougher to write a song, compose it, arrange it & create something of your own out of nothing. Building/recording your own song from scratch demands for hell lot of time, energy, dedication, creativity & sometimes money that one needs to invest. I would personally request that if you are capable, please take initiative & write your own song, create your own compositions, instead of doing covers. I did not want to criticize or condemn, just being frank & putting across my point of view. Have a great musical journey ahead, Cheers.
