my story by wafalme

my story by wafalme Lyrics & Chords

Wafalme is a Swahili word for ‘Kings’
Each of them is good at what he/ she does ‘rap or sing’ hence they chose to call themselves kings and queens of their disciplines
Wafalme is a music cum social group from the slums in eastlands Nairobi. They mostly come from the harsh slums of matharee, huruma, korogocho and dandora
Besides their harsh backgrounds; of crime, poverty, poor health and education, they have chosen to stay positive and concentrate on their education and music. They say that their love for music has kept them away from getting absorbed into the negatives of the slum life
They are 16 in number and their average age is 12; the youngest being 8 years old and the oldest is 16 years
In the same manner, they met the founder of Slum Talent Trust who offered to help them become professional musicians and set up Slum Talent Trust which will help them through their education, acquire better health care and achieve their various dreams in life.
They have so far recorded two tracks; Pamoja ,My story and Trash is Cash
They are managed by Slum Talent Trust

NEW RELEASE
My Story
Duration/ 4:31
Written by Wafalme
My story as it suggests is a composition about their day to day life and experience in the slums. The song talks about their days without food, problems their parents go through to feed them and take them to school, crime in the slums, poverty that knocks on their doors and lives
They also in the song confirm their positive attitude that despite all that is negative around them they will make it through their talents (music) and education
They also express their gratitude towards their parents and in the song they promise that if they make it the will turn to assist their parents in bringing up the families
The song has a hiphop/ crunk feel that makes it trendy, young and listen friendly. With the powerful lyrics and rap skill, Wafalme have managed to draw a picture of their lives.
We believe that with media support, the message will be passed and people will be entertained with positive vibes and the society will be fed
