The original song was sung by Lataji for the movie MERA SAAYAA (1966). Great music direction by Madan Mohan. Lyrics were by Raja Mehndi Ali Khan. The film starred Sunil Dutt and Sadhna.

The song is in the beautiful raga BHIMPALASI. (Aroha: n’ S g M P n S"; Avaroha: S" n D P M g R S). Ga and Ni (in smaller letters) are komal. Re and Dha are varjit (absent) in aroha (ascendancy) and are present in avaroha descendancy).
