Rajesh :I hated the hindi version:) by Udit-But loved the Vijay rendition.Yours is on par with Vijay……
If I may,at one place atleast for eg Pookaal second time from the start-a tinge of artificiality is creeping in ,I think the expressions at such places needs toning down a tad

Very well sung by both of you. Its a tough song to sing, you both managed a very good job of it.

Rajesh I felt your voice a bit off in the charanam when you sang those high registers.

Carrying expressions in those high registers are very tough you both did an awesome job of it.

Wish this was mixed better. Both of you were superb in the low and mid registers. High registers could have been better although those parts are indeed extremely challenging in this song.
Vidya, clarity of the lyrics when you sang the charanams could be better – may be an artifact of the mixing.
Expressions were well done by both of you. Keep up the good work !!.

Vidya, Nice singing as always.Could not enjoy your rendition due to the disturbance along with ur voice thru out. Also felt u rushed at some places, like sahaana, saaral n charanam few places, those words sounded separately. I agree abt the clarity in charanams as sumone had pointed.

Rajesh, Excellent singing, your voice is better than vijay’s and your tamil diction is superb.

I generally don’t look much into recording qualities in a cover unless it is downright pathetic enough to distract me from singer voices. In that sense, I have nothing to complain abotu this recording.

Rajesh:

First of all – a sure and clean rendition in all registers and excellent pronunciation except in one viNveLi (this is nitpicking – mylapore mama style). Excellent tapering off notes and good (originally non-existent) sangathis and gamakams. And excellent, clever and subtle way of handling the high note in “thaaNdiyum”.

We all have our idols and their influences are inevitable. Udit sings flat and you have sung with a bit of carnatic heaviness with subtle sangathis/inflections in a few places – e.g. vinveLi thalaikku mEl (ga,pga gga pga) at 4:10. Note the inflections on “gga”. Every “g” you sing starts from “r” and comes up whereas udit has no such inflection. And of course, this does not depreciate the melody any bit. As I said earlier mylapore mama talk – that’s all. Typically this is Yesudas effect.

Vidya:

You are a chameleon and a good one. I remember you reproducing the bad pronunciation and also mode of singing of madhushree in ding-dong. In this you have captured Chinmayee’s style and have delivered very well. nooraaNdugaL was too high for you. But other places gave me a high. Keep it up.

Hi Vidya…thanks for letting me know about this nice one … I can never keep up with the pace of song uploads here and invariably miss out on many nice ones!.

Your rendition of this was great and liked your tone and expression … quite like Chinmayi which was great. Your volume was a bit low and so words were not clear in all places … ending aalap was great!. Rajesh’s voice was bright and loud and he sang well, but I felt he was pitchy in a few places. Overall tempo could have been a bit faster I felt too.

Good one Vidya … you are very versatile.

Rajesh…. Simply awesome voice and singing! Especially the high registers were sung with clarity and softness!! I should say that I lost interest in listening to the original due to the Udit Narayan effect…. To be frank I dint like it… Now after listening to you sing this song I would only listen to this version going forward! I mean it!

Srividya – Awesome feel and expressions! You complimented Rajesh’s singing equally well and I once again repeat my comment, “For me, this is better than the original, even though there were mixing issues!!”

Thoroughly enjoyed it guys! KUDOS to you for singing such a difficult song!!

Rajesh, you sounded very soft in this song and Udit would have done it with an impact :-). It definitely sounds good in your voice but I thought you could have had a little more throw. Otherwise it was clean.

Vidya, Well attempted on this tough song. You have nicely carried the chinmayee effect :-) & you’ve a beautful voice. Some parts were low in volume.

Overall it was great a great to listen. Keep it up both !!!
