Was waiting to watch Sachin score his 100th ton in world cricket but he failed miserably, getting ousted at 85… Your 100th upload came as a surprise, in deed… IR’s masterpiece as your feat-marking cover… :) Double treat… Congrats on your century run… Bat up…. oops… mic up…. Ton Tanaa Ton!!!!!! This song was recorded when there was no multi-track recording in place… IR and SJ had to stand opposite each other inside the recording booth and that old thaaththa(conductor) gave signals to IR and SJ to render their portions respectively standing in between them both… This info was shared by one of my composer-friend, Yatish Padman… IR is a genius… :)

Srivi!! What should I comment on your cover?? I felt your could have opened up a bit and delivered your portions… Except for a few places were sounding different, viz. ‘iLaya manathu’ and likes… But a real tough one to cover and you have come out with an appreciable output… :) Thanks for covering this…

Kumar Bro!! A different feel altogether on listening to your cover of a song originally sung by IR… At a very few places, you were bit uncertain… Guess the cautiousness you had, while rendering had done the trick… Dheem thana! Dheem thana! and it goes…… Lovelyyyyyyyyyyyy cover…. Enjoyed thoroughly… Neat cover in all aspects… Kudos for this lovely cover…

Hi Kumar and Vidya,
Very nice pick and a real cool effort on a difficult song. One of my favorite IR numbers.

I somehow felt that Kumar was more attuned to the song than Vidya.Means, Kumar was more strictly adhering to the original and Vidya had her own interpretation. I don’t mean this in a negative way- this is just an observation.Basically depends on what you were trying to achieve with this cover.

Kumar: Really cool voice modulation and some sangathis were great and done with ease.

Vidya: You have a very cool voice. I loved some of your parts, esp. beginning of the second charanam. Not sure if you are a native tamil speaker. If not, ignore my comments about the pronunication.
There were a few pronunciation issues – “KaaNum Kanaa” sounded like “KaaNum KaNNa” , “Kanavugal” sounded like “Karumbugal”.
The “thanana” at 1:47 I felt was slightly mis-timed from the original , is that intentional?

Wow….One of the songs I wanted to cover myself for a long time and shelved it to do some time in the future….Happy to see this rendition come out from you both !! Such a difficult one to render it live (virtually impossible). However, it has come possible with track recording these days !!

Wonderful, neat singing by both of you !! Different to hear in a softer voice than the IR Ayya himself !! Thoroughly, enjoyed both your singing !!
