Today is the 6th anniversary of the demise of Bharat Ratna Dr.M.S.Subbulakshmi, the great Carnatic vocalist. I pay my tribute to the great soul by singing the song ‘Kurai Ondrum Illai’, one of the songs popularized by her. The lyrics of the song were by Rajaji, set to tune by the person I admire so much as a composer, Kadayanallur Venkatraman. I have sung a short alapana of Sivaranjani ragam, the first of the 3 ragams used in this ragamalika composition, as a prelude to the song. This is also the first time I am posting a Carnatic song, which I wish to do more in the future.

Listening to you first time. Thanks to Nivedan…Good One…If you are trained in carnatic music,then some sangathis should be crisp and better…MHO if not as a laymen its very good…Ragam changeover is good… Liked it…
