Sonnalum - Duet with Kalaimamani P. Unnikrishnan
Sonnalum - Duet with Kalaim... Lyrics & Chords
Have been wanting to sing some Tamil covers for a while. I loved this song the very first time I heard it – Thanks Meena for the track – I loved your cover of this. Have also heard a Hindi version (Suna Le) sung brilliantly by Swati Kanitkar.
Movie Name: Kadhal Virus (2002)
Singer: Harini, Unni Krishnan
Music Director: Rahman AR
Year: 2002
There are a few diction errors which I am aware of but for serious lack of time couldn’t sing this again. Also, this was a vocal cut, but the pleasure of singing this with P. Unnikrishnan’s voice was immense!
Thanks also to Kumar Srinivasan and Uthra Parakalan for being my previewers to this song, and helping me with diction etc…
Please do listen to my first Tamil Muziboo cover when you get a chance, and as always drop your valuable feedback. I’ve enabled comments now! :-)

Love this song and awesome job Sudha. Your voice is your greatest asset. A minor point (of course nothing to do with your singing :))-The background female vocal from the original is a litle distracting. I have no mixing fundaes but is it possible to suppress that?

Your Tamil diction and presentation is so nice, you definitely ought to venture into this genre also…:)
Loved your singing…your delivery was well supported with your beautifully toned voice. I think I found a couple of spots NVK sir also pointed out, where your landing notes seem to not coincide with the tune, but felt they were probably coz Harini’s voice is also there in the background….the bane of vocal cut tracks…:)
but lovely attempt….:)) Pls do more!! :))

Rajeevji – Thanks! Yes, Nalinakanthi – wonderful to always hear the ragam of a song. In fact, was wondering what its Hindustani eq. was – the song has shades of Mishra Khamaj, I felt.
Thanks again,

Superb Sudha akka. Am a gr8 fan of this song and have heard every version of this in Muziboo. In my opinion, you don’t have to worry about the diction in Tamil as we speak many types of Tamil and even am not sure which is the right diction, despite being a Tamilian…. Ur diction is far better than most others…. Only thing I am worried about is to look for an excuse to have missed this sweet lullaby for around 3 months…. This seems to have been a cakewalk to you, thanks to the vast experience you gained by singing this with Unnikrishnan…. Your voice is so divine…. Best wishes akka….
