Here is a cute classic Salilda composed duet. A peppy happy number from the movie that was popular for other haunting melodies as well like Aaja Re Pardesi. Those were the days when every other scene ended up in a song or dance sequence- so on Wikipedia search, found 13 songs in this complex movie! Of course, each of them is a memorable classic!
Backdrop for this song is the woods – tall trees with the protagonists (Dilip Kumar and Vyjantimala) singing gleefully in their previous life before the mysteries begin…
I had the pleasure of collaborating on this duet with Kaushick, a fabulous singer from this forum. Kaushick has sung it with true reverence to the Mukesh style.

@Very nice Kaushick bhai! clean and pure singing. One nitpick. The swar of ‘tu’ in ‘tu humse aankh na chura’ hits way higher. I am surprised it went through Sudha unnoticed.
@sudha, how come you sang in the first mukhda? I thought your entry is with the alaap aaaaaaaa…. Not up to your usual very high standards that you reserve for Madan Mohan and Salilda compositions (let’s blame uploading through android for that), but for your fans anything from you is great! Felt a bit nonchalant, and ‘tumhari’ could be improved.

Feel, I think you feel the way you do coz the track is slower and also the pitch is reduced by 1 note. Its my area to improve on.

Now you’d probably know the reason behind that title, Nightingale of Muziboo conferred on you… :) And the humming was top-class… Both your voices complemented each other… That ‘tremolo’ comes in mild shades when u go with sustenance… But it does mark the authenticity of your singing… So no worries… Now go for some other songs other than Lathaji’s to break that stamp projecting you as a typecast for her songs… Nallaa paadi irukkaay(your tamizh ;-)) Will look forward to ur covers of some recent hits… Best wishes for that!!

Did you guys deliberately pick the lower pitch? I feel, the original pitch would have made this song sound more energetic, especially for the male part. All the same, a nice rendition.

@Raghu – Yes, for me, this was really an attempt at best. :-) Can’t hum in the original scale. It affects my singing for Hindustani music. Kaushick did a great job, and he would sound even more vibrant at the original scale.
