Kanyadaan - Likhe Jo Khat T... Lyrics & Chords
One of those ever-green & beautiful songs from Indian films especially with regard to its lovely lyrics by Neeraj, haunting music by the great Music Directors’ Duo Shankar-Jaikishan & soulful singing by Mohammed Rafisaab from the film “Kanyadaan” in a nostalgic sequence featuring Shashi Kapoor & Asha Parekh, also happens to be one among those popular & much sought-after songs that I have presented the maximum number of times in my stage programmes !
While Shankarji was a great pianist, Jaikishanji was a wizard in playing accordion and both of them used to play the respective instruments in many of their Music Nites & recordings especially for films produced under big banners like RK Films, Sippy Flms etc. including this particular song !
Incidentally, many among us might not be aware that exactly 40 years have elapsed on this past 12th September since Jaikishanji’s leaving this world on the same day in 1971 whereby this particular rendition is being presented as my most humble tribute to Jaikishanji & Rafisaab as well !

You did justice to this song……the harkats and glides were tremendous….but I would not rate this as your one of the best.
Its always a treat to hear Rafi’s songs in your voice and this certainly was no exception……

Govind Sir, No doubt when you met Rafi Saab, he praised you so much. Only you can do so much justice to this or any Rafi Saab’s song. This could easily pass as the best of the bestest rendition of this song after Rafi Saab’s version:)
Just one minor nitpick:) Phool diction could be proper but only at few places:)

Very energetic performance Thinkal….very melodic and expressive singing. Not an easy song to attempt at all but you went right through all highs fluently.
I would be not honest if I didn’t tell you that with such Sureeli Awaz as your’s, you must work at improving diction and clarity of verses in the flow. Khat, Naghma in words, Laga Ye are two separate words but sounded like Lagaye, Mere Dil Ki not Dil Ke were among some I noted. Overcome this and your song would become the best cover version.
