Velvet
Velvet Lyrics & Chords
I did this small track, last weekend.
I wanted to try something different with a relaxing mood/feel.
Planning to make this a full fledged song.
Your feedback will be much appreciated.

Thisis an excellentpeice o f music …its
very meditative…and has an up beat new age
tempo 2 it….not quite sure of the lead sound
the syntheffect…u may want to try other
lead instruments. as today that moog effect
is not totally contemporary.HOWEVER its a good
start to a good song…all songs have their
begginings. and ends. if u know what i mean
GOD BLESS NEIL SWANSON

For your inputs. I will try a different lead tone.

Ganesh,
very nice arrangement…. obviously, some room for improvement is there, but am sure as this is a draft, you will already be having more ideas in your head to add into this….
as for the music, i think it ca go one as a BGM to a Thriller/Suspense movie…. OR…. if you want to make a song out of it, the BEST that will fit in here is a romantic pathos/pain song…. and it will sound great, i think…!!! at least that was what was induced in me when i listened to your music…. something like losing a loved one, pain, grief, betrayal and the likes…. think about it…. :)

Bodhi

Quite an interesting piece, but to be honest it fails to sustain interest. It needs to be a little longer, so it can be better structured. A simple structure like a 4 bar intro, followed by the in the case; lead melody a break, lead again, maybe a bridge and then outro. 4/8/4/8/4/4. This way you can include/exclude the different parts (bass, chords, drums etc) in the various section which keeps the progression alive. Not sure what your workflow is, but you have to do MIDI sequencing to get it right.
Ganesh D said
@Prem-Thanks for your detailed feedback. All points duly noted.
I posted tje scratch version not the final product.
I mostly do live recording, like to play with my keyboard instead of Midi/step recording. I also feel that gives it more organic feel.
I agree with you regarding the song structure.
Hopefully in future uploads I will fix these.
Thanks again

Given the fact, you are already using a synth. to get the sounds, IMHO, you might be missing out quite a bit by not using MIDI. If you use a good sequencer/synth combo, the sound reproduction should be very close to what you played. MIDI do capture a lot of dynamics in addition to the actual notes. With MIDI you can reuse what ever you played, add to what you already have and have the same notes played by a variety of instruments. This way your arrangements is not tied you what you composed. With pure audio files, your arrangments are pretty restricted. It might be a little bit of a learning curve, but it is worth the effort. Continue to do what you are doing now to keep your creative juices flowing, but start working on MIDI.

Thanks Prem
I agree with you.
All of these were done using built in Seq. of Fantom X, which of course is limited when compared to Soft Seq. I will be moving to Logic Pro soon. Hopefully I can realize the full potential of soft seq. and midi.

Definitely very soothing Ganesh. It’s always challenging to come up with something different when you are limited by the resources. I felt replacing bass track with a backup lead tone (same notes) and writing a different bass track could have made it sound more smooth. Enjoyed it overall.

logic pro is good ganesh but do get a mac pro ……dont even think of that will be nice with simpler systems…….it really does sucks quiet a bit of cpu juice……the only other option is reason 4 , wich is quiet efficient in cpu and awesome sounds ….now record is also there from propellor head softwares….you can directly record vocals into reason . or get some sonar or cubase and reason rewired to it…….that will be a destiny of a system with less cpu consumption……just get a quad core pc…….its my experience on logic pro sujests u this……I had to buy macbook 13" just for logic pro to use……then realised how stupid I was. reason works ten times cpu efficient than logic pro….and its windows based….nd thousands of sound sets available online….or else spend 2 lakhs for a mac pro with 32 gig memory lols…….but if you can spend this amount ….thats the best ever systen to work with……logic pro.
