Nicely done Tara. Another example of your versatility. I think this was closer to the original than Meera’s and more along the lines with Viyda’s attempt. It was very enjoyable overall. I thought there was some timing issue at “Naada”. You should have uploaded the whole song though! 5/5

A very good attempt! You tried very well to bring the emotions of Nagavalli in the song. “Ezhunden” was very well done indeed!

I hope you will take the below points in good spirit:
1. Some parts were flat and lacked flow
2.The sangathi in “Anbe” didn’t not sound right- as if it was finished in a hurry.
3. The heavy carnatic touch wasn’t felt in the charanam

Then again, not an easy song! The keenness and the confidence in doing this song must certainly be appreciated :)

Nice rendition Tara. Enjoyed it very much. Adithi mentioned all the pointers and nothing more to add. Would have been good to have completed the song though. I felt it kind of ended abruptly and was searching all my volume controls thinking something was wrong….hah ha

Very nicely done! As said earlier by Adithi, the “heavy carnatic touch” was not there in the charanam. However, this being such a difficult song….full credit for singing it without any apaswarams anywhere.

Tara ….very good effort…hearing two versions in 2 days….hope this song doesnt become another mar jaawaan:-) The highest note in the song came out very well, though the overall flow could have been better. Overall its a very difficult song to cover ….surely 5/5 from me.

Tara, good effort! Enjoyed the song as a whole, but wished for a better version from you in terms of minor deficiencies here and there! Pitching problems, and lack of clarity to sangathis(as in Neee…of pallavi) are something a singer of your calibre can overcome by being more focused.
You have a wonderful voice which stands above all these shortcomings. Please rework on this song if possible.

Your voice is capable of doing much greater things than you are doing – as I have always believed and told you. First of all I appreciate your finally venturing into a genre which you generally do not. I think I am one of those who try to push you do tough songs and you have started with a good one. My best wishes for that first.

First anbe is excellent and out of the world. Second anbe probably went too fast trying to find the first anbe :) Did u listen to your unai "thE"da ? You have poured a bucket of fast sangathis there probably unknowingly and beautifully ! This is the ability that, I keep telling you, you should hone and present.

One of the things I have seen in your renditions is that sometimes you struggle with hard and fast tamil phrases. You lose out on enunciation and that introduces flatness. But guess what, Harini’s singing has the same issue. Since your tone is very close to her tone, I am not surprised we get that lack of classical punch.

Anyway, even Meera who has been constantly in touch with classical through carnatic classes, has found it a bit difficult to introduce the syllabic power that is required to pull this song off. So, for an occasional dabbler like you it must be even tougher. But nonetheless your sweet voice is a strong plus.
