You may sing almost anything in English, but be selective when you move on to south – Malayalam/Tamil especially. Nice song pick. Tara, you sounded beautiful. George, sung differently from the original and was nice to hear. Somehow, I couldn’t enjoy the song much because of the fade-in/fade-out effect. Is it just me? Should I download the song to listen?

Tara, this song is cut out for your voice and singing style. You sang really well, althouh I felt you could do better (more punch needed). Felt you sang too softly in some places.

George, very good attempt by you. The charanams were very good but felt the pallavi was a bit low for your range, and the usual flair in your singing was a bit lacking there. Feel could be improved overall too. But Kudos many for attempting yet another Tamil song :-). Thanks to Tara for pushing you :-).

Was expecting some harmonies from you two experts. May be embelish this with some?? – may be during the starting prelude and also in the charanam in lines like ‘ullam kaiyaal moodaathe’ etc. Will sound superb.

Sai – Yep, I agree that this one has a latino flavor :)

Suresh – I am actually very selective about regional songs. Felt this was a good fit.

Uthra – This track was a vocal cut, and hence the parts with the vocals sounds kinda odd. I agree with your assessment.

Kumar – I was trying to go for a different sound/feel with my voice (perhaps warmer?). I dont think the range was too low in this case. My voice does sound diff in the lower range though. I like the idea for harmonies. Perhaps Tara and I should revisit.

This song is very special for me since I played the slaps/clicks on an octopad for a thillana show way back in 2001 or so :)) So even now, my ears were tuned to that especially since I trained myself to hear the rhythm more than the song, which is usually the opposite! Listened to it a second time to tune into your vocals.

Nice pick for both your voices.

Tara- your energy was taking a beating initially but then got right back on track. Very enjoyable vocals.

George- nice one, but I somehow felt a disconnect with the words you were uttering and the actual feel behind it. Singing wise— it was spot on.

5/5 definitely…

Very nice singing Tara and George. Kudos to George for trying this Tamil number. You have done a good job I did not find any issues with the diction or feel…. Tara’s singing was so good, as well. The track was very bad. Especially, I did not like the arrangements in the charanams…. Good performance overall!

Tara you were amazing with confidence on the blast throughout and a striking tone. George, you did not reach out to me in your attempt not because you tried to be different or it was Tamil, but because you were not confident in what you attempted. And lack of confidence shows in the flow, throw and the spot on pitching which we are all so used to be hearing from you. This caused a disconnect which Meera has pointed out. Again this is judging the overall impact as it is without even remembering or comparing with the original which I heard long time back :)And George, to cover up this please do sing more south Indian languages. You become stronger when you apply yourself and conquer! I believe nothing is impossible for you as you are a top class singer which I have been saying every time!
