BOOMM Improvisational piece for Rock de BOOMM

BOOMM Improvisational piece... Lyrics & Chords

Original composition by Vidya Shankar (Vidi) in a pentatonic Carnatic scale called Hamsanaadam. Sometimes, 6 notes are used. Hindustani scale has other accidental notes and is called Shuddha Saarang.

BOOMM added some improvisation to the original Hamsanaadam melody structured by Vidi and played it during their Rock de BOOMM concert on Nov 8, 2009.

Improvisation for Carnatic part was taken from the “mudra” line of St. Tyagu’s composition “Bantu reeti” and for Shuddha Saaranag, we took a few phrases from “Saawan Rut” from the album “Piya Basanti” by Ustad Sultan Khan and Chitra.

This piece was recorded live during a practice session. No studio level tweaks were done. People in this Music piece:

Bass guitar: B Vasant
Vocals: TN Arunagiri
Keyboards: Vidya Shankar
Bamboo Flute: Sridhar Narayanan
Drums: Padmanaban Ramasamy
