Hi Friends,
Here I present before you an all time favourite of mine! This song is from the movie “Manichitrathaazhu”, a Mohanlal starrer… This was a blockbuster back in the 90’s. This movie went on to be re-made in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and also in Hindi. However, many who have watched the original still liked the original version of the movie.
This movie had some wonderful songs, scored by the great composer Sri M.G. Radhakrishnan and the lyrics penned by Sri Bichu Thirumala… These songs are still remembered & cherished by most of the people.
This is a song originally sung by Dr. K.J. Yesudas… One more very interesting thing about this song is that, the track for this song was initially sung by our very own Pradipji! What more can you ask for? :)
This is an humble attempt of mine to sing this song… Hope you like it… Please leave you feedback and thoughts on the song…

And this movie and songs could well be cited as examples for the standout supreme of music. As told by you, the original has its own class and magic. This movie is such kind weaved with music and soul. And thats the sole reason for the success reaped in all the languages after getting remade. And thanks for bringing out that the track was rendered by Pradipji who s sharing space with us here.
Sush!!!! Nice pick brother…. Lucky to have met you there in Bangalore…. And about this rendition, you have literally daubed this cover with emotions and expressions skillfully…. Its a real trekking experience to sing these soft numbers with bass…. You have sprinkled your softness artistically over this with oodles of expressions…. Very good singing! But I think I have already heard this song before in your voice, am I correct?
Loved your sangathis :) Do sing more openthroated. Also the ending of the charanams weren’t very audible. “maina mayangi” could be done better.

Nice deep sweet voice. Very good singing……. Superb feel…. Liked it a lot.
I listened to this song after listening to Aditi’s and Balaji’s recent most duet…. I felt the reverb/delay is more. Hence, removing the clarity and sharpness of the voice. Similar to my recent cover ‘Katrin Mozhi’.
Plz listen to Aditi’s upload and then listen to this one. You can make out the difference.
I myself am learning about recording clarity/mixing now. Based on the comments I have received and my learnings, just wanted to let u know….

Great song pick Sushanth. Very good rendition with lots of feel and expressions. The high pitch portions in the charanam could be better I thought – can open up bit more there and also the sangathis could be executed better. Thanks for posting this classic.

Sushanth, excellent singing. One of MGR Sir’s gems in the rare raaga of Ahiri. Composers have rarely touched this raaga since it is believed to be inauspicious. The only other song in this raaga in malayalam is the song ‘aazhikkange karayundo?’composed by Gunasingh from the film Padayottam. I am not repeating the pointers already spoken of about the song-please take care of the same. Congrats to you!
