The Roland JV-1080 has been a recent addition around beginning of 2007. I use the GEM WK4 as the controller keyboard to play the sounds of the JV-1080 and its expansion sounds.
The MIDI connection are made via M-audio MIDIsport 2×2 which has a USB connection to the Laptop.
ChangeIT a free software http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/ChangeIt/ChangeIt.html would allow me to control and change settings on the Roland JV-1080 and also play various patches downloaded.
For external audio the audio out is connected to Lexicon Omega 4×4 to M-Audio monitors. The MIDI connection via Lexicon has not yet been setup.
All MIDI recording to date has been done internally on the GEM Arranger keyboards.
Looking forward, I would like to get Yamaha Motif 61.
