Hi Harshan, Nice evergreen one … thought the vocals were a bit soft … could have been brighter. May be your voice was not 100% in good shape on the day of recording or may be you have some minor problem … like sinus related? I somehow got that feeling and sorry if I am barking up the wrong tree here!.

Sthayi – rendered same style each time … could have used more varation.

1st Antara – Last line … I heard that you almost forgot the word there!. Nice one otherwise.

2nd Antara … ran into some interference but managed well.

I thought you stuck faithfully to the melody of the original, minus some dynamics, which would have been nice to hear. May be it is that laid back style that people have mentioned above!.

dear sree, i sincerely appreciate your learning attitude, and to seek improvements in renditions where they are hard to come by. i have gone through the song 3 times to critically examine your singing of this song.

firstly, this is one of the most popular songs here on muziboo, and yours is one of the better sung song. this is a sort of intoxicating song and u have sung it that way. if i have to point out one single anomaly, then i wd say, that it is a bit too nasheela. in fact the ‘nasheelaness’ has made the right pronunciation take a back seat :) i would have preferred it to be a bit more planted.

coming to minor things….i thought in ‘ye dillagi’ there is a small problem in dillagi. the descent back to the swar of ‘ye dil’ comes at ‘gi’ in the end, instead of ‘lag’. i mean ‘ye dillagi’ shd be something like sa sa ma ga sa (upper octave) instead of sa sa ma sa sa. Similarly in the second stanza, ditto for ‘Suni’ in ‘Suni meri sada’.

you got ‘ghata utar ke aa gayi zameen pe’ right in the second stanza but there seems to be a slight problem in ‘yehi to baat ho rahi hai’ the corresponding line in stanza 1. there seems to be a dip at the end of each word in your rendition whereas rafisaab does not come down till the beginning of the next word.

these things are difficult to explain, but hope you understand what i am trying to say.

There is lovely free-wheeling here, and that is fine since the basic raga is there and variations from the original could be refreshing and indeed are such here! Fine command over singing and you did it with ease and relaxation.Breath is great.
The first “pukarta” in the sthaayee should be neat and only the second one in the sthaayee can be twisted like “bugarta” (no liberty can be taken here!).

Hi Harshan, Glad you pulled me to this one … I liked listening to this song after a long time.

I liked your voice and total mix in this. It sounded good. Perhaps a touch too lazy for my liking to be honest but you pulled it off quite well. “Ye dil lagi” and “Suni Meri” were a bit too stretched considering you were going a bit laid back all along … that seemed like a bit out of place!.

You had the other nuances covered pretty OK but would have come out better if you had taken up a more normal style of singing rather than the laid back one. Considering you have a good voice I was left wanting for more. Anyway certainly enjoyed it and thanks for inviting me to this song. Cheers.
