Majhi re -Bong Connection by Harshan
Majhi re -Bong Connection b... Lyrics & Chords
Been a month since I posted anything…was buried with work, work related travel and other personal commitments…but tried to listen to the new uploads on Muziboo…as much as possible. Sometimes if the singer uploads a song every other day….its not going to be possible to listen to that at that rate.
Long time ago I heard this bengali song originally sung by shaan from Bong connection and instantly liked it. I sought the help of surajit da and he gave me pointers on the bengali words…on how to pronounce it and also the meaning of those words on phone…thanks a lot dada.but this was more than a month ago…so might have missed a lot in these few days :)I dont sing songs of this genre….just did this for a change.
I am off this week and thought of doing something and here it is my interpretation of this beautiful song…which is a good mix of bengali and hindi…i have not followed shaan’s singing style…but tried to do justice to the original in the best way I could….using some dynamics and voice modulations.
Many thanks to surajit da again for his help….hope my bangla friends will pardon the diction issues. This is my 3rd bangla song.
I was voice chatting with Govind sir this morning and told him about this song…and sung one full anthra…he encouraged me to go and record it….so just focussed on this song and recorded….thanks sir.
Have added some variations as usual and also towards the end….hope u like it. I have sung this softly as much as possible. Also this is really a quick mix, didnt edit anything after recording…so you might hear some undesired trailing notes…and also at one place my voice cracked….so bear with me:)
Here is the lyrics in bengali with translation ….found it on muziboo itself.
amar prothom dekha brishti-r jol-e
(In the rains that I first saw in my life)
bhasiyechhi bhela khelar chhol-e
(I set afloat a paper boat in playful mood)
sei jol gechhe mishe, kon nodi-te
(Don’t know in which river that water flowed into)
gechhe hariye kon sagar-e
(Don’t know in which sea it has got lost in)
Chorus: ::: Bengali :::
majhi re, o majhi re, dekhechho ki tumi tare? – 2
(Oh Fisherman…. Have you seen it?)
nouko amar, chhele belar, kagoj-er….
(The paper boat of my childood days….)
::: Bengali :::
amar prothom paoya aankar khata,
(My first drawing book that I had got as a kid)
amar prothom lekha kobita,
(The first poem that I had written)
sei chhelbelar, sopno hajar,
(All those thousands of memories that I had in my childhood days)
gechhe hariye kon sagar-e
(Don’t know in which sea they have got lost in)
Chorus: ::: Bengali :::
majhi re, o majhi re, dekhechho ki tumi tare? – 2
(Oh Fisherman…. Have you seen it?)
nouko amar, chhele belar, kagoj-er….
(The paper boat of my childood days….)
::: Hindi :::
neeli ambar si naiyyan meri,
lehorn ki dhunn mein beh chali,
gehri sagar mein tanha kahin,
geeton ko tumhare khojti…
::: Bengali :::
ekta jholse jaoa bikel bela-e,
(On a sun-burnt evening)
ekta laalche sagar-er jole,
(In the red waters of the Sea)
jaye bhese jaye sopno bojha-i,
(There it goes filled with all my dreams)
nouko amar, kagoj-er
(My paper boat)

Awesome and so refreshing, Harshan! Had the pleasure of previewing this sometime back, and was waiting for the official upload. Total ease in delivering – this can pass off as a fresh original. Now, we want that Ching Chong upload too!
To favs, of course!
P.S. Could you bump up your vocal vol a tad, the softer notes get immersed under the drums at places…

Nice song and excellent singing by you Harshan in a neoteric style… Liked it a lot.
(It would have been better if you had given the English translation of the song also, which would add more delectation for non-bengalis like us to enjoy more the mood conveyed in the lyrics…. It’s just my humble suggestion…)

Right when I stated to miss not understanding Bangla, the song changes to Hindi and keeps me captivating. Nice song that reflects only you and your natural style.
