ei je nodi ... bengali dry vocal cover by Harshan
ei je nodi ... bengali dry ... Lyrics & Chords
Hi Friends …I am keeping my word and this my dry vocal post…I have not done anything to my vocals, no equalizer, no compression, no reverb….just increased the volume a bit so that it doesnt sound awefully low on energy.
This was a song which was introduced by Rakesh Baro and I fell instantly in love with it. Kishoreda is mesmerizing as always and the great man never ceases to amaze me with his talent and voice, the more I listen to him the more I LOVE him. I got the track from Surajit da and Harry chopra decreased the speed a bit.
I would like to thank Chondryma for providing the meaning of the song, Sarmistha – was very very helpful with the diction correction, she actually mailed me the corrections in her voice. Sathish and Latha – who did the initial preview like 20 days ago to gauge if I can do some just ice to it.
BTW – I had sung this song many many times and discarded it, I recorded this yesterday night around midnight as I wanted a different flavor of my voice. This is one stretch recording – wanted to be do a lot of justice sincerely to this dry cover…there are a few shortcomings (perfect singing is just a dream)….so please bear with me.
This is my 2nd Bengali song….and I am feeling really good about it. Also I dont have natural tremelo in my voice, but I did try to induce it to suit the feel of the original.
click here for the version with effects
Hope you enjoy this song….here it goes for Rakesh bhai :)

So you have opened the innings this time for ‘dry vocal cover’ tournament and placed the very first delivery with elegance for a four through the covers… :) Its a real good call from you to post only the dry vocals… And am sure we will get to hear the resplendence in many of our comrades’ voices… At times, an improper mix does take away the beauty of one’s voice in the output… Loved your modulations and throw… You should have taken music seriously… :( But really glad that you still continue your yeoman’s service in motivating people… Hats off brother!!
Thanks,

Hi Harshan Chattopadyaay, A great benagali song indeed evoking nostalgia in many a bengali and non bengali alike.superbly navigated, through dry or wet as it does not matter as long as ears are pleased. A wonderful cover by you, All bengali friends will agree with me.i am given to understand a dry vocal tournament kind is about begin (from a comment above), and harshan is the first to fall for it . but i am at loss as to why some of our esteemed friends here are behind wet dry and slippery vocals. a slight addition of effects wont change the basic texture of anyones voice, had it been so, music loving millionaires wud hav bought such equipments and produced better rafis and kishores and frank sinathras. aslo if this is to discover the 916 purity of ones voice , all the followers shud record it in same set up and equipment our harshan used. after all set up is 80% responsible for the voice quality of dry vocals. So dear harshan, pls post a version of the same song with the required wetness, for me.it will be still better .Be it Lis taylor, brook shields or merlin manroe, they look good a little clothed than naked. hehe

Sree, Just heard the mix of this uploaded dry vocals:) Sounds fantastic. Just wanted to point out that this dry vocals upload idea is fantastic. You get to see where the singer stand in terms of with and without effects. Nothing bad about it:)
Comparing both ur mixed and dry vocals one thing struck my mind was that you do not need any more polishing than your dry vocals cos your voice has innate bass and reverb to a certain extent and sounds good without any effects.
Overall, I loved ur Dry vocals much more than the mixed one. Mixed one is obviously better sounding but the success of this experimentation is the dry vocals:)
Loved it.

Maan gaye ustaad! Rendering a song in alien language, and leaving the vocals dry; that calls for some guts! Its alien to me too, and never heard the song before. But I can say you have sung this very well, ‘coz now I feel like listening to the original, in the maestro’s own voice. Way to go Harsh!
