I consider myself to be an ordinary singer with a good ear for music. I am not a trained singer and hence I know my limitations. I love songs which are melodious, I love pathos too …I generally go for songs with a lot of expressions. To me music is just a bunch of sounds which in a coordinated fashion …creates a mood …I dont even see the need for lyrics to be there in a song …you can hum that tune and if you convey the right expressions ….the work is done…again just my opinion …I am sure many will not buy this arguement. Also I am not a believer that a particular song needs a particular tone of voice in most cases …it is very interesting to hear a different tonal quality which renders the same song. Music for me is gods gift, medium for recreation and relaxation. I am a serious listener and listen to all sorts of music except for heavy metal. I joined muziboo to hear and share views with more music minded people …and I am glad I did :-) Welcome your views on this :-)

Harshan,
You are a very passionate singer and music lover. I admire your tenacity to achieve perfection in your songs especially in the recent few posts.
I would encourage you to slowly try songs outside your comfort zone and sings songs originally sung by singers your really dont care too much for :-). This will help you improve your individuality.
Areas of improvement are breath control and modulations. Your strenght is versatality and your strong passion toward singing.
Although most of us are doing this as a hobby, why not take it as far as we can. There is enough and more to learn from fellow muzibians – lots of talent here.
Keep singing and sharing.
I would like to thank George to start this thread. It somehow blends with my idea of starting the best singer forum some time back.
Sree,
You are one hell of a singer in my book. I say that because of the work you have posted on muziboo……Great Stuff as usual……the songs that u normally do talks a great about the individual’s character……any song in not easy or tough……I believe the simpler the songs, the tougher is to do justice with them……but thats just my 2 cents……I would like you to try some more recent contemporary songs as that will bring in a fresh attitude in ur singing……Your voice holds up to any challenge and it will sure help you acquire more strengths while trying recent songs, even some english ones…….
Good Luck……
Regards,
AJ

Harshan,
I think you’ve come a long way from when you started and I remember you telling me it was just something you did for fun and didnt really care so much. I can see the change now and how you pay more attention to details and put in a lot of effort. I also feel you mixing has come a long way. In terms of improvement, i think your voice is still taking shape since you havent sung for a long time. So you need to polish it up a bit more. I think another area you can get better in is expressions. Not in all songs, but in some cases. Again its just a matter of practice.
But you are on the right track and I am sure you will only get better with time.Good luck man!
-George
