This song does not need much explanation. This is a wonderful song wherein SPB’s voice and the accompanying guitar bit are woven in beautifully making it debatable on which is sweeter. It transcends all time barriers and sounds pleasant even today. This song is better listened, neglecting the visual content in the song which is not of much significance. Similar to the “Ilaya Nila” song, this one also has superb guitar play by Raja. The way the music from the violin longingly lends itself to the end of the first two lines of the songs’s pallavi has the trademark of Raja
It’s like a dream to sing this number in such a low range, I tried my level best. Never wants to leave SPB’s rendition, Plenty n plenty to cover :D A sample of the work to see whether I was ok with this range especially with “Pani vizhum” all the time. Felt a bit a strain and lot of focus needed to do that. Pls feel free to raise your opinion on this trial !

Nice attempt Sowmya. I wonder why do you want to strain yourself and sing this range. Generally expressions naturally come to your singing, but in this range that feel was missing esp in the pallavi, charanams were Ok, still would have been splendid in the high range. Ofcoz your ‘parihasam’ smile was nice.

Great attempt….although this may not be suitable to your voice, however I am mighty impressed with your vocal range…you can take a high pitched Janaki song and this SPB song with so much felicity !
