Megame Megame - tamil vers... Lyrics & Chords
One of my favourite Vaani Jayaram’s song. It was originally a ghazal by Jagjit Singh. Then on following Vani Jayaram’s advice, it was played in the movie. In some notes, She has mixed with “niravals” a sublime combinations with the tune.
Movie : Paalaivanasolai

Sowmya, That was absolutely brilliant. Loved it. One thing I want to tell. I have noticed this in many of ur renditions and also others. It was very obvious in this. When you say words like Megamey, DhEhame, Then(honey) etc, it tends to sound ‘E’ instead of ‘Ey’ which is very odd. It ll be better if u consciously avoid this.
My recent covers:
Kadhal kavidhaigal with Joseph
Thendral dhaan with Kumaran
Cheers:)

A very sophisticated situational song where the female finds it difficult to accept a romance that is born by crossing the boundaries of what was a beautiful friendship … to which the male says “this is not in our hands!”. Lyrics are high class.
Sowmya … I must admit that I would have loved to hear you with a track in this song. I just love the tabla in this song a lot. You did sing well and liked your delivery but it was slow in tempo and nuances got a bit affected I feel. Nothing wrong as such mind you, but sometimes an accompanying rhythm helps the sangathis just fall in place as they were meant to.
Congratulate you on giving us this rather beautiful song with your nice expressions as always. I will see if there is a K-track that I can give you.
Srini pointed out ‘veeNai’ … the big ‘NNaa’ seems to be a problem for you Sowmya. Wish you could overcome it.
Sowmya … the Swarams you sang raised a question mark for me:
Vani Jayram has sung it as:
DNRS, RMDNS DNPG…
You have sung it as:
DGRS, NSPNS PNSG…
which I think doesn’t sound right?.
Liked your voice in this … try to do it with a K-track and I will try to locate one if you would be interested.
Great choice of song and really appreciate your emotive version. Kudos!.

Sowmya, first of all, I really think you should sing with a shruthi. Sounds empty without it plus we run the risk of losing the pitching.
Agree with Arvind on both the issue of tempo and swarams: your swarams are out of the swarasthaanams. I think the right swarams (as I recollect the tune) are DNRS RMDNSDNP Ga…
Your feel is bang on.
However, I still do find some shake in your voice and some pitching issues (which could have probably been avoided if you had sung with a shruthi box).
Best

I am very attached to this song. Long before I started to sing Jagjot Singh’s Ghazlas I was very familiar with this song. In fact I gopt attracted to Jagjit ji after hearing his version at a later stage…
You did an awesome job undoubtedly. though I also felt that this song would have been more enjoyable with a karaoke track. Mainly because I feel tempo plays an important role in the song and its sangatis. For example…the sangati at the repetition of “Enakkoru malar maalai NEE VAANGA VENDUM” lost its beauty when rendered slowly. Like that there were couple of sangatis which would sound better if sung at a faster tempo. Could be I we are used to hearing in the style in which Vani jairam sang it.
Thanks for singing this and refreshing the nostalgic memories attached with this song…Inceidentally I have uploaded the Ghazal version in my voice here in this site.

Lovely rendition Sowmya. Definitely will sound better with a shruti drone in the background and that would you helped to avoid the slight deviations in shruti toward the end. Nevertheless it was very nicely done. I liked it a lot. Definitely worth a redo if and when you get a K-track for it.

excellent selection. It’s brought nostalgic memories. We don’t have these type of melodies in the current music scenario.
Also, you sounded like vaniyamma.
Great rendition.

Sowmya, this song is in Telugu too, sung by Janaki/Suseela (i always confuse)…. you have sung this really well, agree that with a karaoke it would have been a different ball game, but i like the way it is now, your expressions were great, and yes Sidhuja’s observation on Swaram was correct.

Hi Sowmya,
One of my most favourite songs! I have been searching for the Karaoke for this song….when i found that you have sung this number…. i thought of asking you the karaoke…. but found that you have sung this without karaoke…lol
Great job… tough song really.
I think the swarams you have sung are different from the original song….DHA NI RI SA, RI MA DHA NI SA, DHA NI PA GA……this is what i could hear from the original song.
You have sung the places (sthaanams) correctly (same as the original) but the notes are pronounced wrongly.
And the original song is faster too.
Nevertheless good rendition… enjoyed it!
My sincere thanks for singing that evergreen song!

Hello Soumya, This is one of the best songs of vaniin tamil. You have sung this with a Vani touch. However while recording you could have played a sruthi box in the background for better effects. It is a tough song to sing-you have done justice to it. Keep singing!
