Dum maro dum
Dum maro dum Lyrics & Chords
One more hindi song from me, is my favourite ’ Dum Maro Dum ’ the most successful and popular Hindi song ever. It’s psychedelically shot and danced to. It’s a perfect merge of Western rock music and Indian vocals .Asha Bhosle’s imitation of the wavering bass line still has the ability to send shivers down the spine.
Song : Dhum maro Dhum
Movie: Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971)
Music Burman R D
Lyrics: Anand Bakshi
Singer: Asha Bhosle
Performed by: Sowmya
I have done this a year back ! Plz bear with my diction !

Sowmya….
Great song selection and sung quite well too… ‘Thoo thu thuroo’ was Superb…Nice to hear such an open throated singing….Just slight diction issue felt like you are saying “SHubah” instead of “Subah”

Not a big fan of this song :-( – but you have sung it very well. Modulations were very good – you have a good range.

Sowmya,
Good attempt. Diction and tonal quality at the higher notes in the stanzas need some attention.Thaa thuru thoo was excellent and to me the highlight of your rendition.Mood of the song has been captured well by you.

hi Sowmya ,
I have heard you for the first time…apologise for that….I loved your openthroated rendition….expression and energy… I call this a fearless rendition where you dont bother about your notes and stuff like that….thats how you get the best out of your vocals.
great rendition…while sustaining “Dum” at 00:29 you were lil off….however I am sure you will do better next time…I would give you 5/5 for your energy, expression and FEARLESS rendition….:)
Cheers

Soumya….thanks for bringing back us those “hippy” days. I heard it was an entirely different era. Come back to your singing, simply superb. As everyone said that “thuru thuroo” was mindblowing. Among the diction, that “shubah” as mentioned by NVK was obvious.
Is that you who delivered that “keerthanam” before. Unbeleivable transition!
Keep it up.

Versatile Sowmya!. Good one and well sung. Your voice sounded a bit different in this one and there was not enough treble for this song.
The drag and pull at the end of Dum maro dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeaa … that last pull was not that puntuated … would have been great if there was more drag and pull there. From memory that is what I have in mind. May be I am wrong!.
Also your second anthara was better than the first.
Hey … great one and it shows your very good singing talent.

Sorry it took me a while to get here Sowmya, you have sung this with right feel and attitude. Loved “Thoo Thu Thuru”, felt a bit nasal when you have sung those higher registers, felt like listening to Janaki/Suseela’s(I always get confused between these two legends) rendition of this song. Keep up the good work.

Unique rendition. Your singing style reminded me of Usha Utup. I agree with Tara about nasality at certain portions, but that can be fixed. Singing and expressions were very good. Kudos! 5/5

I think the “nasal” thing became more pronounced after post-production pitch increase. You prolly sang at a lower pitch. The tempo’s increased for the same reason. I’m sure you can do it at the regular pitch and will sound great.

Very nice effort sowmya… m hesitating a little bit giving you feedback…
you have taken all the notes very clearly … no doubt and technically the song is what it should be….
because your mother tongue may not be hindi so the i can ignore the accent part…
secondly you just be a little more open while singing… close your eyes sing loudly…
all the best
cheers!!!!
