Thaye Yashoda-Meena's Cover From Morning Raga
Thaye Yashoda-Meena's Cover... Lyrics & Chords
Nice to meet all of you after a long time.Hope you all are doing as awesome as ever.
I am back here with another tough number from the movie Morning Raga sung by Padmashree.Dr.Sudha Ragunathan. No words can do justice to describe the beauty and richness of this song.I am one BIG fan of her singing.Especially her aalaps/sangathis/ease of singing blows me away.
Adithi akka’s rendition was a mere inspiration to do this cover.
Thanks to Adhiti akka and Vicchu for the track.
Here’s my attempt.Beg Sudha ji’s pardon!!
Movie :Morning Raga

Good attempt Meena! Aalaap needs more work as some places were offpitch! Some notes need to be better to bring the flavour of Thodi without compromising on the purity. Some swarams need to be checked too. But this is a difficult song so appreciate your attempt!

Awesome rendition on this classical song and your vocals were very clear with lots of front end compression. Was very good to hear your bold performance and was very very impressed. This is a great achievement by you and you should feel proud!.
From what I have heard you before, I think you sound a much improved singer now to be honest. Of course your classical training has held you in good forte in your singing always, which not many people have. It is good to see you enrich your classical forte by singing such songs … truly marvellous!.
On the fine tuning side I would like to mention a couple of things. This I say with the experience of my involvement and listening to carnatic music; I have learnt the veena for some years as a young boy and subsequently also had minor stints with classical vocal training in both carnatic and hindustani … I am not in touch with either for many years now but my ears serve me good as a music lover!. Let me not bore you too much … but what I noted are the following: 1. You need to vary the volume in your voice to bring out the sweetness more … viz. when you do a fast sangathi and reach for a top note you could try going there and catching that note like you would catch a bunny with it tail rather than by its head … this analogy may be crude but I wanted to get the point across to you if you know what I mean. Finesse is the word I can think of and that you need to cultivate more to project command and control and experience. I believe you can do this as you are showing very good sangathi control. Another analogy I could use is the bellows of a harmonium … it does not need a lot of air all the time … knowing when to do that is the trick. 2. This next point is sheer practice only … there is slight loss of control in some places and as a result minor offs are rendered. I think if you tone your voice up as per 1. above, then you can fix this one as I feel you will be more aware of the intricacies of rendering a complicated sangathi and you will finesse through the notes without any pitch problems. Mind you, you don’t have much problems as such … you just need to take it easy and catch the notes just enough and sustain them with the palm of your hand rather than hold it with your fingers (another analogy I came up with!).
Fantastic show this song is for you and I was really quite impressed with the mettle of your singing. Kudos!.
