Nice selection and sounded nice overall. Well done for attempting it and giving us such songs which are good for the soul. Congrats on your first attempt of a ghazal in which you have shown good qualities.

Although many singers may have their own style in singing this song (I have heard a few versions including Lata Ji’s), the pining emotion and longing expression is at the heart of the song, as is the case for most ghazal songs.

I felt that the easy-flow and expression got compromised a bit in your rendition. Most of your words has a classical touch that sort of conflicts with the nuances of this song.

Looking forward to hearing more ghazals from you … this was a soothing start!.

Very soulful……The first Allah was damn good……U rock in this genre too….i loved how u sang SachMuch :)

I am no expert on recording but I thought if your vocal track had little less reverb it would have sounded even better. But it could be just me :-)

You should have sung ‘Ya Allah’ together without breaking them into ‘ya’ and ‘Allah’ . It would have been better that way…

First of all, very nicely mixed. You are getting better n better. Reverb was a little high, but it works for this song. I thought the singing was very good. Expressions were very good too. The high portions were done well. Maybe there were a few portions where I felt you were running out of breath which affected the flow. Other than that it was very good.

Not heard the original- Soothing and mellow… very nice rendition Smitha!
I did notice some small instabilities like in ‘rakh’ in hum rakh de and the ‘par’ in the preceding line in the last stanza. Overall, very nice though!

Very expressive singing Smitha! Some pronunciation and pitching issues sure are there. Also as NVK said the Ya Allha could have been smoother every time if sung together. But still your expressive and distinct voice carries it through. Riaz will make you better :)

Hey Smitha…. that was fantastic. I love this ghazal – I remember listening to this every night before going to sleep during my 12th standard exams – it was a great stress-buster. Incidentally, even my favourite lines in this song are…. “Ya duniya ke zakhmo par marham rakh de, Ya mera dil patthar kar de ya Allah”.
