The Haunting formed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Vastly inspired by the legendary horror punk band the Misfits, The Haunting (takes from horror movie title in year1963) currently line up are Sidd Astrovamp (Ex-G.A.S, Ex-Psycho Sickness, The Rivals) as Vokill, Saiful (Y2K) as Guitar Monster, Violent Skull as Twilight Bass and Yad Syewellar (Fight Field) as Hell Drum.
From its inception the music was primitive punk rock, harsh and to the point. Yet that aggression was complimented with a strong sense of melody inspired by the roots of rock and roll bred. Utilizing B- horror movie-style artwork, the band appeared with leather jacket, “devil lock” hairstyles, horror make-up and mask. The band often stays away from the “campy” horror lyrics, as the lyrics by Sidd tend to be more like dark poetry and, though not always serious, deal with themes of darkness, occult and fear.
