This is my humble cover rendition of this mesmerizing romantic song from movie Om Shanti Om, with a salute and shout out to Sonu Nigam and Shreya Goshal for their great emotive, expressive, and mesmerizing singing talents.
I have retained Shreya ji’s part just for the pleasure of singing with her! :-)
Needless to say, it was very hard to bring out the same emotions and expressions as Sonu Niigam, on the F scale which is about 4 scales higher than my usual. But gave it my best shot. Hope you will all like it.
The track has score from the original and is for demoing vocals and to not infringe on any copyrights.
As always, would be great to have your feedback.

Perfect cover of the original! Such a treat! Great voice and superb expressions! If anything was short of the original, I felt it was the emotions. But only just! Sonu really excels in the feel/emotions aspect of any song!

Mustafa, you are absolutely right about that – Sonu sets a very high bar in his songs in terms of the emotive expressions and in combination with the higher scale, it is hard to emulate as much as he does. Lots of learning here in this song for me personally. :)

Shreedhar bhai ….fantastic rendering …it was a pleasant surprise to hear you attempt a “Aaaj kal ka gaana” and you have rendered this beautifully keeping the feel of the original but in your voice…loved it. The original has a lot of effects and hence it sounds more soulful……singing wise you were awesome….but thoda effects dene mein kanjusi kiya:) hats off….!!! I am sure if Shreya was in SIES during our time, you would have sung a duet live with her at Shanmukhanda:)

Dineshbhai I added Shreya’s part from the original and mixed it.
Harshan, yep I did some khanjoosi but really speaking, if you listen to Shreya’s part very very closely you will find that the echo and reverb are very differently set than usual settings in our poor softwares – the echo volume is relatively low and it is more of a rounded sound that comes following her voice – in Garageband I tinkered a lot with the echo and reverb and tried to add matrix reverb but none of those brought out similar effect – I decided to let it go plain with minimal effects.

Thank you very much for closely noticing the modulations Adwaitbhai. This rendition is at the same level as my Suttum Vizhi rendition but was way more difficult to do at F scale along with expressions and modulations and I would not say this was perfect at the high notes.
In the process, learnt a whole lot from Sonu Nigam’s singing capabilities. A satisfying experience as a music aficionado.
