Trying to complete the pending work of 2011, this wonderful duet from “Aitbaar” by Asha Bhonsle and Bhupinder (picturized on Dimple and Suresh Oberoi) doesn’t need any introduction. Although a bit overshadowed by the other duet “Kisi Nazar Ko Tera Intezaar” from the same movie, I find this duet more melodious and likeable.
I wanted to sing “Kisi Nazar Ko Tera Intezaar” with the melody queen on this forum, Sarmistha but Sarmi suggested this duet and I was so happy to agree. The k-track was also lent by her.
We had initial delay due to our different priorities. Sarmi had sent me her portion quite a while ago and I recorded mine also, but was not satisfied with the result. Singing Bhupinder Singh’s song is not an easy task, as his pitch and style of singing is totally alien to my style. I then waited till such time so that my voice would have the heaviness to match Bhupinder’s. My throat was a little hoarse yesterday and I thought it to be the best time to try again the song. After a couple of takes, I was convinced that some worthwhile product was ready. So, here is the final product. I thank Sarmi for accompanying me on this song.
I can’t talk enough of Sarmi’s abilities, as I feel I am not adequately qualified to talk about her singing. She is a fabulous singer and particularly sails along Asha’s numbers (as also others) with a fleeting movement. Her voice is absolute bliss to listen and this song is no exception. To match singing abilities of Sarmi is no joke and my effort here is what I could produce according to the best of my ability.

Lovely melody….I am not the only one who never heard it before but by the time the song ended I think I learned the melody already. So simple and yet so genuine. Felt like it had glimpses of Khayyam’s style. Bhai Shailender you are smart by making best use of vocal hoarseness. True it can be used as an advantage sometimes. Agree with Latha above don’t take too long a break. Nice singing by both of you. Well presented.
