Amma Naanu Devaraane (Kannada Bhavageete) - Cover by Sarada
Amma Naanu Devaraane (Kanna... Lyrics & Chords
This is a beautiful bhavageethe about the playful story of little Krishna as a butter thief.
Little Krishna steals butter and when mother Yashoda reprimands him tries to convince her of his innocence.
He says, “amma, look at it yourself…. the butter pot is hung so high on the ceiling….how can I even bring it down with my little hands ?!!”
Krishna then goes to the extent of saying, “I swear to God, I did not steal the butter, all these gopa baalas together have smeared it on my mouth !!”" :)
These lyrics are very endearingly penned by H.S.Venkatesh Murthy and music composed by Mysore Anantha Swamy.
I hope you listen and enjoy this song. I look forward to your candid feedback.
Thank you very much in advance :)!!

Wonderfully sung, Sharada! Enjoyed every bit despite not knowing the language. Hat’s off to your fabulous and sweet singing.
The theme itself is so innocently naughty :) I had covered this theme Main gwaalo in Brij bhasha style Hindi some time ago.

Latha,
Thank you. so much:) Yes, this is similar to “maiyya more, main nahin maakhan khayo” song. I like this song for the cute lyrics and also Hindustani bhajan style composition. Also the modulations and aalaaps especially in the third antara near “soordas prabhu shyamana” are my fav :)

Why would you need studios anymore if one can record like this at home :-) ! Truly spectacular…. What a gifted singer you are, Sarada ji :-) !
Your rendering this using a kid’s modulation reminded me of S Janaki’s “govullu tellana” along with SPB for the Telugu movie saptapadi :-) ….
Thank you, and please do keep enriching us….
