Like Muziboo :)
I personally feel that in a few years people will start looking elsewhere for music. Indie music should certainly get bigger over the next few years and I am hoping people will consider buying indie music and appreciating it

well… what do i say? i kinda thank god often that i do not depend on music for my living. if a record company tries to elbow me out of my own creative space, i do not have to take it lying down.
i would probably blame the record companies more than bollywood. but hey… nobody is here to give out free lunches. record companies are run by the market, than a musician’s preferences. they are not particularly inclined to experiment as long as their bottom lines are healthy.Shashank Gokhale said
Few Fatcs Causing the Harm according to me:
1. Music Industry is more of a Person Oriented and Not Music Oriented….
2. It just think of Present….not Future or Past….Offcourse Everyody think of money
3. They dont want to take RISK….they want to stick with big names….No new music means no growth of music….
4. Success of Music is more on the Advertising Campaign than the Quality of music….This leads to Trend oriented music than the new Creations….
5. General Public are less reluctant to listen to new Music….They just dont have time for listening to music….They like something fast but sweet to listen….They dont care about who ? how ? what ? about the song….
6. Bollywood music is more related with the Topic of the films…Now a days more topics are coming up which need Background Score and No Songs….On top of that very few take a look at what is Background music affecting the scene etc.
Etc Etc…To be Continued….

this is a funny topic… more celebrated over the years than it should be.
bollywood is a showcase of movies. and the movie director/producer has a vision he wants to achieve. they are not here to promote diverse music per se. sandeep chowta is a prime example of how a creatively inclined musician can get bored of doing the same things in indian movies. so, he makes enough money to sustain himself. goes to different places, finds like-minded ppl like frank gambale and others to share artistic notes/creativity and come up with different kinds of music. it is as simple as that.
bollywood remains “a” money-making platform to a musician inclined to do music as per the visions/whims/fancies of the movie-maker first and then himself. not everybody can dare to be a sandeep chowta or get the creative autonomy of an a r rehman.
and stop holding bollywood responsible for something that was never big on its agenda. :D
aspiring musicians trying to make it to bollywood to showcase their music need to find other platforms too.
