Un konju thamizh la songs kaetkarathula enakku alaathi piriyam… This song should be laced with expressions substantiating the love and pain of someone asking to himself if his lady-love would turn-up… Being a tamilian yourself, I wish you had sung this understanding the lyrics… And when it comes to Hari haran’s songs, I am very stringent looking for the details as in the original… You have sung with a classical tint and you may well be unaware of it while rendering… My suggestion is to cover the original details and if needed, you can go for embellishments to take the rendition to the next level… And the knitting of the vocal tracks is obvious… Do take care while mixing… And tamizh x-( x-( x-( vaazha pazha thoal vazhukki vaalibar uyir oooooshal thaan…. Need to improve… Am press-ganging this since you are a tamizhian… Hope your next cover sounds awesome with ‘semmozhi’ thamizh… All the best…

P.S: And about the rode mic and M-Audio sound card, need not pester Rekha… I ll get you if your next tamizh song doesn’t give me any room to catch hold of you for diction issues… :D

Harry ….this is what makes covers interesting….one should have ones own little deviations from the original….otherwise there is no individuality in the rendition. I loved your take on this song……I am sure even Hari sings this on stage ….he will deviate from the original …thats Hari….LOVED it man !!

Harry, I agree with the pointers above on diction… :) Many of your pronunciations are quite buttery, as in, the punch/stress on the required syllables are missing….actually, that’s your style as I’ve noticed even earlier, even in certain Hindi songs… :)
And as for many of them saying that this sounds different from the original, I can see where they come from, and I think I also see where you say you did try and deliver the same sangathis… :)
Your track’s tempo is slower than the original. Fractionally. Second, like I mentioned, your diction style is such that you cover the brigas of the sangathis easily, but you do them with a lot more smoothness and softness, that the punch goes missing. That difference gives the feeling that the tune is being different from the original, and your landing tunes fall at the other side of the ‘dhritam’. But, technically, you are completely within the shruti and avritanam.
Ok, I’ll stop here…:) think I’ll only confuse everyone further…. :D
Raj sonna one point I’d agree…spend a little more time on understanding the lyrics and each line. A bit more work on the feel would give the song the necessary push… :)
