mile sur mera tumara (new)

“we all know this song since we were as little child….we can never ever forget this song till we die…it had given the national spirit to every one of us…and also had given us an opportunity to know different Indian languages…and cultures when there was no much communications and frequent traveling to around India.
Today… the ever glamorous bollywood remixed this song….and now its on all channel with great promo…
I personally feel its an insult to the nation…on our republic day. Complete bollywood show off and this song spoiled the simplicity and the spirit of the original….
Aamir comes and sing mele sur…like “athi kya khandala style…shahid singing this song as a disco& rock song… deepika is so glamour and I was so afraid at any time her thin& short skirt will raise any time since the spot her portion shot was so windy…. sharuk khan gives a feel like he is dying because of this song. There are lot more goof ups which I could not tolerate at all…I stopped watching TV after seeing such a nonsence… i felt so bad and helpless…wanted to express my feel so you are reading this…
I really love the original I used to sing it every now and than… I was so happy to find it in YOUTUBE and I was sharing the link to all my friends…
Oh my god….bollywood literally raped the song….I am so sorry to use such words here…. I don’t want to be polite on this matter…
Understood this song has been produced by times…
I just cant believe this….how such a great organization could commit this blunder?? It’s a national insult…
Guys please ignore this song…and start a campaign to ban this song immediately…
Will write more on this after listening your thoughts…
click the above link for the “new mile sur…”
i really wonder how this whole bollywood is talking so proud after commitng such a blunder…

I guess this is a filmy version of “Mile Sur”, showcasing Indian Cinema. It was very entertaining and most non-inspiring. An interesting discussion though. haha…
I liked the Sitar Bit very much. They were awesome.

If taken from a bollywood entertainment viewpoint, video looked okay. It seemed to have the who and who of the current crop of singers, actors and actresses. Think probably this was also expected to showcase something more of what India is, but ended up being a celebrity lineup.
Needless to say, this is the first time I am watching ARR play the continuum- so was curious and satisfied at the same time.
Nothing more to say I guess— felt empty and disjointed watching it.
Cheers,

George took the words out of my mouth….true, the only thing that impressed me too, was ARR playing the continuum fingerboard. Another short moment which made a smaller impact was the group of deaf and dumb children, after solidly ignoring the buffoon in their middle.
As for the song itself, no significant changes to the lyrics, and hence no new inspiration there. And definitely the newer voices behind the singing are almost forgettable when I think of the original version.
As for unity – it was a Bollywood index, and nothing else.
I rushed to listen to it out of curiosity, and had to rush back and listen to our good old one nearly 10 times to take out all ill-flavors.
This new one simply does not get my vote….

Sukumar,
Glad you understood that ur views are your own perspective, just like we all here have one.
BANDIT Bhimsen Joshi….LOL….u cracked me up there….
However, I still get inspired as I still don’t see any difference in the new version apart from some legends being ignored……Probably, because I see the message inside the whole show-off (as someone termed it:)) which is no different than the first version….
Good to hear the different views of Muzibians here……probably, UNITY in Diversity is killed in the process, but I still like how the new India is approaching it……No 2 individuals can agree to the same opinion (just like this discussion) but unless there is appreciation for others opinion, we are in good shape……Our country has a lot of promise and I am sure we are going to be great in the future too provided we learn the message of Unity in Diversity…….
Regards,
Amu and Rahul (AJ)

Came across a 2nd (NEW) version….
here are two links -
Full version
Newer version with extra bits
Slightly revising my previous opinion, some bits of musical improvisations in the newer ones are nice….but not much on the picturization tho…
Feels nice to know many of us feel strongly about the song, old or new, period. :)
cheers

The only thing interesting for me was how Rahman played the Continuum. Thats about it. I remember listening to the original and feeling inspired. This I felt lacked originality. Morever, it should have showcased India’s high fliers in every realm instead of focusing just on Bollywood.
