“we all know this song since we were as little child….we can never ever forget this song till we die…it had given the national spirit to every one of us…and also had given us an opportunity to know different Indian languages…and cultures when there was no much communications and frequent traveling to around India.

Today… the ever glamorous bollywood remixed this song….and now its on all channel with great promo…

I personally feel its an insult to the nation…on our republic day. Complete bollywood show off and this song spoiled the simplicity and the spirit of the original….

Aamir comes and sing mele sur…like “athi kya khandala style…shahid singing this song as a disco& rock song… deepika is so glamour and I was so afraid at any time her thin& short skirt will raise any time since the spot her portion shot was so windy…. sharuk khan gives a feel like he is dying because of this song. There are lot more goof ups which I could not tolerate at all…I stopped watching TV after seeing such a nonsence… i felt so bad and helpless…wanted to express my feel so you are reading this…

I really love the original I used to sing it every now and than… I was so happy to find it in YOUTUBE and I was sharing the link to all my friends…
Oh my god….bollywood literally raped the song….I am so sorry to use such words here…. I don’t want to be polite on this matter…

Understood this song has been produced by times…

I just cant believe this….how such a great organization could commit this blunder?? It’s a national insult…

Guys please ignore this song…and start a campaign to ban this song immediately…

Will write more on this after listening your thoughts…

new mile sur available here"

click the above link for the “new mile sur…”

i really wonder how this whole bollywood is talking so proud after commitng such a blunder…

The only thing interesting for me was how Rahman played the Continuum. Thats about it. I remember listening to the original and feeling inspired. This I felt lacked originality. Morever, it should have showcased India’s high fliers in every realm instead of focusing just on Bollywood.

I guess this is a filmy version of “Mile Sur”, showcasing Indian Cinema. It was very entertaining and most non-inspiring. An interesting discussion though. haha…

I liked the Sitar Bit very much. They were awesome.

EK CHUT KI SINDOOR KI KIMAT TUM KA JANORAHULJUST KIDDING MANLOL

Well guys… Glad to receive many of your views… There are very few people who like this ‘new mile sur…’ I cannot expect everyone will be having the same wave length of thinking…

Before everything I must say thanks to pratik, sreenivasan, rahul, ajeesh,Ernst,George&vamshi for Sharing your Views… few of you were against me and many of you had kind of similar perspective like me…I appreciate both…however I hope all of you know that this debate is happening everywhere… Not only in muziboo… just log in and see youtube…you can see lots of bloody shitty comments over there…We are much better (may be)since we have kind of a decent profile here as matured {like ……(fill it up lol)} or half backed musicians (like me)…

Rahul…

When I saw the song in the TV and the way there where promoting the whole thing made me really very angry…and I wrote the whole thing on the spot and posted…So there are some words which I have used was not suitable for a forum but I have requested excuse there only.Any how thanks for highlighting them again (rahul)…

If you add one drop milk in one glass of poison it doesn’t matter… but if you add one drop of poison in one glass of milk. Then…?

This song is the similar kind…I do agree there are some good things in the song but those all goes meaning les because of the proportion of the blunder level… like 60% poison and with 40 % milk…

The original mile sure released in 1988 I guess… on our independence day…I don’t know how they planned this new project…if they have taken little more time this project would have come out very nicely…what was so urgent to release it now…? there was no person to give their honest view to stop the release of the project at least for the sake of not missing the great personalities like abdul kalam lata sachin…etc…???

I got an opputunity to watch an another “mile sur mera tumhara” some years back… this is an amateur version of mile sur done by a group of software engineers in Hyderabad…

I can say this is far batter than the new mile sur…“milesurbysoftwereenginers":www.youtube.com/watch?v=089YVOFAhs8

I am so angry about the direction even… Many of the shots are not planned at all… because the concept is not clear to who ever shot the video.One example is “the camera crazy” sonu nigam’s entry…i would suggest sonu (but its too late) to restrict himself with his songs…{please excuse sonu fans…i also like his singing but not screen presence…}

There is some reason for ishwarya’s entry but what abhishek has achieved or contributed to the country…? The director wanted to make him happy or not comfortable in disappoint him since he is …mmm…ok leave it…?

There are many stupid shots planned to make us feel so exited…but it hardly comes into our notice… and when it comes to our notice we get irritated instead of exited…

As rahul said there is no modern India shown… deepika’s nighty type of semi bikini and shahid’s mile sur performance in disco lights gives you the feel of modern India I am so sorry…21 years back there was bigini’s also there was disco lights and night clubs… But they didn’t shown them…

And personally I am not fond of old stuff and against to modern things… and I never say only those day people were doing wonders…we do only bulshits….when Rahman made new vandhe mataram we all liked right…? why… thts because of the perfection & dedication…here I find only show off of bollywood stars…

Another big thing they missed is science and technology… our latest achievement of “chadrayan” is totally forgotten… How & why…?

In business sector what they have done…? where is TATA ? MITAL…? MALLYA…? AMBANIS…? Where is NANO man…?

Finally what happen to the original composer of the song Bandit Bhimsen Joshi… I think no one even bothered to check about him I guess…

Its not that, they cannot do such detailing. Times &Vodafone are there the producers. They could have easily collected all the data base & put a team to work on it… but why they failed…?

It is just because of total lack of supervision and planning things. Which we cannot expect from Times like organizations…

And they never understood how serious this project is they have just got satisfied only with the idea…

Even if you consider this as bollywood mile sur… I don’t thing I would agree. But for sure this is my own perspective…

You might have your own…

Thank you guys…will write more if necessary…

If taken from a bollywood entertainment viewpoint, video looked okay. It seemed to have the who and who of the current crop of singers, actors and actresses. Think probably this was also expected to showcase something more of what India is, but ended up being a celebrity lineup.

Needless to say, this is the first time I am watching ARR play the continuum- so was curious and satisfied at the same time.

Nothing more to say I guess— felt empty and disjointed watching it.

Cheers,

George took the words out of my mouth….true, the only thing that impressed me too, was ARR playing the continuum fingerboard. Another short moment which made a smaller impact was the group of deaf and dumb children, after solidly ignoring the buffoon in their middle.
As for the song itself, no significant changes to the lyrics, and hence no new inspiration there. And definitely the newer voices behind the singing are almost forgettable when I think of the original version.
As for unity – it was a Bollywood index, and nothing else.
I rushed to listen to it out of curiosity, and had to rush back and listen to our good old one nearly 10 times to take out all ill-flavors.

This new one simply does not get my vote….

Sukumar,

Glad you understood that ur views are your own perspective, just like we all here have one.

BANDIT Bhimsen Joshi….LOL….u cracked me up there….

However, I still get inspired as I still don’t see any difference in the new version apart from some legends being ignored……Probably, because I see the message inside the whole show-off (as someone termed it:)) which is no different than the first version….

Good to hear the different views of Muzibians here……probably, UNITY in Diversity is killed in the process, but I still like how the new India is approaching it……No 2 individuals can agree to the same opinion (just like this discussion) but unless there is appreciation for others opinion, we are in good shape……Our country has a lot of promise and I am sure we are going to be great in the future too provided we learn the message of Unity in Diversity…….
Regards,
Amu and Rahul (AJ)

Came across a 2nd (NEW) version….
here are two links -
Full version
Newer version with extra bits

Slightly revising my previous opinion, some bits of musical improvisations in the newer ones are nice….but not much on the picturization tho…

Feels nice to know many of us feel strongly about the song, old or new, period. :)

cheers
