“we all know this song since we were as little child….we can never ever forget this song till we die…it had given the national spirit to every one of us…and also had given us an opportunity to know different Indian languages…and cultures when there was no much communications and frequent traveling to around India.
Today… the ever glamorous bollywood remixed this song….and now its on all channel with great promo…
I personally feel its an insult to the nation…on our republic day. Complete bollywood show off and this song spoiled the simplicity and the spirit of the original….
Aamir comes and sing mele sur…like “athi kya khandala style…shahid singing this song as a disco& rock song… deepika is so glamour and I was so afraid at any time her thin& short skirt will raise any time since the spot her portion shot was so windy…. sharuk khan gives a feel like he is dying because of this song. There are lot more goof ups which I could not tolerate at all…I stopped watching TV after seeing such a nonsence… i felt so bad and helpless…wanted to express my feel so you are reading this…
I really love the original I used to sing it every now and than… I was so happy to find it in YOUTUBE and I was sharing the link to all my friends…
Oh my god….bollywood literally raped the song….I am so sorry to use such words here…. I don’t want to be polite on this matter…
Understood this song has been produced by times…
I just cant believe this….how such a great organization could commit this blunder?? It’s a national insult…
Guys please ignore this song…and start a campaign to ban this song immediately…
Will write more on this after listening your thoughts…
click the above link for the “new mile sur…”
i really wonder how this whole bollywood is talking so proud after commitng such a blunder…

Guys, Well, I don’t see any issue with the new version at all. I was expected to see such a reaction but mind you its not bad as you have made it to sound in your write up.
First of all, I would like to ask you why are comparing the versions in the first place?. Both the versions represent India at different times. The 1st version was of a growing India and this new Version is about the new India after 60 years of Independence. Completely different to each other isn’t it?
Our country has changed a lot from the first version which we all love and to me the new version represents the modern India. Don’t go into what Aamir, Shahrukh or Shahid are doing, Indeed, I would request you to try and appreciate the message of the song which is not different to the 1st version.
Also, I humbly beg to differ that this new version does not show diversity and beauty of India. Indeed, it does with so many cultures so beautifully shot, some important jewels of India participating with so many languages which makes our country so so special. I agree Sukumar, that some goof-ups are there as huge icons are missing which is really unfair. Like Sachin, Lataji, Asha ji, Pandit Jasraj ji and others important ones should have been in there. But see the brighter perspective of the changing India and this is what is bound to happen in the future too.
I remember a quote (don’t remember the author though) who says “The only thing which is not Permanent is CHANGE itself”. Isn’t this expected?
So I don’t feel that the new version is an insult to the nation at all. Indeed its a matter of pride for us all to be a part of modern and well as traditional India.
I would like to see all of the Muzibians reply here about what and how they feel about modern India.
Regards,
Amu and Rahul (AJ)

If this project was intended to inspire unity in diversity, then at least it failed on me. I didn’t get inspired at all.
I see a number of bollywood stars, famous icons and their not-so-accomplished offsprings performing.
I don’t want to argue here, just expressing the non-effect it had on me.

Personally, I thought it was very entertaining.
Rahman’s continuum fingerboard was mind-bogglingly awesome. Then there was Amitabh – everytime I see him these days, I’m possessed by the urge to rip his hairpiece off to see how bald he really is. The Telugu dude who walked in on the extremely wooden uncomfortable family must be a really big star. Zakir Hussain was great as always, no matter how ridiculous his surroundings.
Who was the dude in the black beret? He is followed by Salman Khan who is surrounded by children – now there’s a good role model.
Badminton baby is then followed by Priyanka Chopra who, inexplicably, steals a notebook from a child. But this crappy middle is worth it for the segment with AMjad Ali Khan and his kids. Man those guys can play.
From there, unfortunately, its downhill again with a mammooty sighting followed by some fat guys on keyboards and Closet Davar who, it occurs to me, might actually might be a good role model for gay kids. We get to see a weird mutated clone of Sonu Nigam, some more plastic stars and finally, there’s some patriotic shit that doesn’t quite have the benefit of being able to ride a tidal wave of emotion.
Pathos, this piece does not have. It is bland and inoffensive, filled with contradictions, and guilty of sacrificing character for the sake of appearance. But then, remixes are usually prone to that sort of thing. Besides, I didn’t think the original was quite that authentic either. I think a few people might be guilty of idealizing their childhoods a little.
Everything changes and there’s no reason to believe the old is any better than the new. Its true – it was a simpler time, but thats because you were a child, the adult equivalent of which would be a retarded person.

The only thing interesting for me was how Rahman played the Continuum. Thats about it. I remember listening to the original and feeling inspired. This I felt lacked originality. Morever, it should have showcased India’s high fliers in every realm instead of focusing just on Bollywood.
