Singer: Ghulam Ali
Music Director: Ghulam Ali
Lyricist: Hasrat Mohani
Lyrics
chupke chupke raat din aansu bahaana yaad hai
hamko abb tak aashaqi kaa woh jamaana yaad hai
chupke chupke raat din aansu bahaana yaad hai
khench le naa woh meraa parde kaa kona daffatan
aur dupatte se teraa woh munh chhupaana yaad hai
hamko abb tak aashaqi kaa woh jamaana yaad hai
chupke chupke raat din aansu bahaana yaad hai
dopehar kee dhup me mere bulaane ke liye
woh teraa kothe pe nange paanv aana yaad hai
hamko abb tak aashaqi kaa woh jamaana yaad hai
chupke chupke raat din aansu bahaana yaad hai

Excellent singing, Adwait – sorry for my delay getting here. Not at all easy to sing this tight taal based Ghulam Alisaab ghazal (with all its layakari gimmicks) on a track. Harkats at Daffatan, Raat Din, complex glides at Ke Liye, Bahaana yaad hai and Urdu pronunciation were really noteworthy.
Big Thumbs up,
Sudha

Azam bhai,
Glad to see your comment on my post. Agree with the complexity of singing a cover version with rupak – espacially for this Ghazal when you record in one go. Learnt this a hard way :) Ghulam Aliji’s ghazals are too difficult to cover with a karaoke track because one has to cover all the adaayegi which does not fall in the beats. Ideally a tabaji is needed who would follow the singer for such ghazals. But it was fun nevertheless :)

Wow! What a performance! Though it is not ‘exactly’ like Gulam Ali’s, loved listening to this. Gulam Ali or any singer for that matter, can never render the same when they sing live. The harkats come spontaneously for such Gazals. Hence the changes. I guess that’s what has happened here :)
