Here’s a song from my new album ‘Rajnigandhi’ which was released this month. This was sung by Antara Chowdhury, daughter of the late Salil Chowdhury(Salilda)…Antara who is already an established singer in Bengali and hindi makes her debut in malayalam through this song. She was initially anxious about the diction and hesitant to attempt the songs. However, we spent a whole day in a studio in Bombay to record two songs for this album trying to smoothen out diction problems as best as possible.
Incidentally, it is interesting to note here that over thirty years ago, my father persuaded her mother Sabitha Chowdhury to sing her first malayalam song(‘mele poomala’with KJY in ‘madhanolsavam)while working with Salilda.
Here’s the song from the second generation as a dedication to dear Salilda.

Before coming to the song , was it she herself who had composed the songs in the movie “Ingane oru nilapakshi” by Anil-Babu ? Andhara Chowdary ??? I believe so……In that , she had proved a tremendous factor that she has got a link with malayalam by birth itself……Songs of that movie were fantastic….Among them , “Oru Chandamulla painkili” & “Paathiraavum Poonilaavum” by KJY sir were really great !!!
Now this one , sir , it’s your composition that made both of us (Andhara & we people) really involved in it !!! Quite happy to know that all of you liked the song. Antara had taken a lot of time and effort to sing it this way and she would be happy to know these responses. When I had taken to composing she expressed her desire to sing for me but when I really gave her not one but two songs, she became jittery. She almost pulled out of the project, but somehow I could persuade her to give it a try.
As for Suresh’s query-yes, she had tried her hand in composing music for a malayalam film along with her brother Sanjay.
