nice loved your vocals and the nuances……if the rythm timing is fine i could have asked more prominent chesty throws here and there ….like in ( ulagaalum ) oru aalumayoda padi iruppar spb that manly power. Naan romba rasichu kaetta songs la ithuvum onnu , naan romba rasichu padaa songs la ithu topper……summa solla koodathu pinnitta raj.My hearty hugs for covering this song on spb bday and covering it finely. Would love give spb a hug but I doubt if anybody could……?

Raj … very delicately handled and hats off for singing this tribute to SPB. Despite your tiring voice you did extremely well and your nuances were as close to the original as is humanly possibly I think!. Appreciate the superlative effort in your delicate voice and really it did touch a nerve or two!.

What did come to the fore in my mind through this rendition of yours is the subject of ‘Voice Balance’ as I would like to call it. In male voices the qualities for a superlative balance would include timbre, sweetness, malleability, preciseness and smoothness of pitch, enigmatic nuances, robustness, macho-ness, heart-felt lyrics to name the main ones. It is only a very few that are gifted with all, like the Great & Modest One & Only you chose to lay tribute to, and what a grand effort this has been!. What I heard as well is the modesty of your voice that pushed its gifted attributes to the fore, rather than trying for something that is not a gifted quality. This is a very subtle point in discovering one’s own Voice Balance!. The outcome should be a natural and a genuine one in line with your gifted voice attributes. I think you achieved that in this song and quite honestly I did not miss SPB’s macho-ness etc. in this rendition of yours. It was sweet as a jackfruit from your musical tree (the key word here being ‘your’) and I am sure more of these will drop down for us to enjoy!.

Anna… 2 pointers… Subbudu naan….

- Mix – Either increase ur voice track volume a bit/Reduce track volume a bit.

- Lower registers were not strong…. Mine is not too strong either…. I am working on it. Just thought I’ll mention. I understand that singing continuously for almost 2 hours affects the strength of the voice…….

Sooperb pick maann…Nalla padirukaa….Observed dat ur voice faints at some places…Also could hear crackles at some places(Kara kara throat???)…But then singing was as usual sooperb….Those minute sangathis were very well done!!

This is a song that lesser people dread to attempt. SPB romped like an elephant all through the song stamping his class on every sangathi. You have had a great deal of success in reproducing the sangathis in a clear and crisp way without any averaging.

You have also displayed very good breath control : for example : you have sung 2:29 to 2:39 in one go. It is not easy at all. good job !

Your subtle transition to falsettos in first “raaga bhavangaL” tells me you understand when to transition from real to falsetto voice without losing the charm in either arena. And ins second “raaga bhaavangaL” you have displayed an excellent grasp on sangathis and notes. “Idaiyaada vaLaiyaada” and “idhamaana veENai” are other places I really savored.

There is some room for imrpovement : first “mEni thaan kooda” – notice how SPB emphasizes Rajni’s eyes feasting on beautiful Madhavi. Subtle punches like these catapult this song to a plane of higher taste. You may also want to incorporate such niceties.

Raj: Lovely singing and a nice song pick once again. Liked the soft singing and sangathis. I just noticed that the alaap in the beginning with a different twist was the start of “udhaya geetham paaduven” – I guess it is the same raaga?? and it is interesting that one is composed as a happy song and the other one is set to a sad tone. Sorry to digress but liked your rendition and faving it.

I was also fortunate & GOD-blessed to learn a lot of things especially about good music and modesty/humbleness from both SPBJi & also from MSVJi during his TVM visit !

I tried to sing this….for heck of it…saami illa da pa….chance illa….can’t touch this…
its like that under current…the river that appears shallow, place your feet and feel the current…oh my god…
