If I am asked to name my all-time favorite male singers from the tamizh cine musicdom, without any hesitation my biased mind would pick Sri Prathivathi Bayangara Srinivas, fondly called as PBS and Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, acronymed as SPB… While the former gave a different dimension to playback singing through his subtle nuances and laid-back vocals in a period, in which singing hitting the maximum in the sonic meter was accorded the best, the latter actually defined exactly what playback singing was… I consider these 2 blessed singers as my pair of eyes… Only through them, I have seen the finer details of singing which go inconspicuous if looked casually… Blessed I am, to have born in their era and to have grown up listening to their songs… :)
SPB is undoubtedly one of the best playback singers in the trade having won many accolades, thus attaining many intangible feats… Having sung over 40,000 songs in a span of 45 years, he comfortably set himself as one of the doyens in the trade… His association with Maestro Ilayaraja has inducted many immortal songs/music in the chronicles of Kollywood music… This legend has celebrated his 65th birthday on the 4th June, 2011, while the Maestro celebrated his 68th b’day on the 3rd June, 2011… It was only through Balu gaaru that I have learnt to inflect my voice with the flow of the tune… I am ever indebted to this gentleman for gifting us with so many gems and I found this as the perfect choice to dedicate to our one and only, Paadum Nila with a note of belated birthday wishes…

Not familiar with the original….but this didnt prevent me from enjoying this beautiful rendition….awesome rendition, I should say effortless singing. Raj….you should seriously consider contesting for reality shows….your talent needs to be showcased in front of more people. Also liked the brief voice of Kavitha…loved it.

Thanks one and all for stopping-by, thus gracing my space… :) I am indebted to you all for this continuous support… Without listening to Balu garu’s songs, I don’t think I would have found out the singer in me… I have always liked the way he articulates the lyrics and makes them astoundingly sweeter… :) And of course, this song is so dear to me as the lyrics corroborated my real-life situation once… This was the song which I sang to my most special one… There would surely be an inspirational source for artistes, singers especially and that person will ever stay as my inspiration though I am not aware of her whereabouts…

Raj…. Dhool song selected for the duo dedication. This song has been pending in my list for a long time. First reason, not having a good K-track. Now, this is solved as I can grab it from you. The second one in the inital alaap which always haunts me…You have breezed it with ease. Your voice seemed to me in between SPB and IR (texture was an equal mix of the two). Superb dedication for them. Asathitte Po !! Loved the lines “Meeravin Kannan Meeravidame” till the end of charanam. Track’a neeyave anuppi veppennu namburen…(Ha.Ha…)

My sincere bows to the write up. PBS….SPB…there lies a simple cypher in the world of cryptography….a very simple one.yet the giants…incaranations of music have brought images to the eyes by mere vocalisation…mere is a big question…they were of a different dimension ….leaves one awestruck and confused as to if their vocal music even with our BGMS were of the material/maya induced world… or was it from the astral…such is their impact…

So loved your rendition….fine details …impecable nuances throned the space. I loved……the immaculate aalap for starters…what i really admire is your keeping to your ground and rendering a balu song…so astonishes me…being influnced by him and yet not…‘aathama raagam’ was a big delivery…and i smile at ‘uyiril kaaladhnu’ 1:46 on segment…very sweetly done….

Raj, A beautiful song and a wonderful rendition. I felt like you were rushing through the song. Not sure if it was latency issue. Loved the la la chorus in the 2nd interlude. 3rd stanza was simply superb. Loved it.
