Dear Friends,
Classical based film songs is one of the Genres that has really fascinated me no end. This time around, I have chosen to render this famous all male devotional duet from the 1960 movie KALPANA, based on Raag LALIT.
Right since my school & college days, this song has always been sending me into a near trance, whenever I heard it. I went into this essay with some apprehensions, but I surprised myself by how easily (with honesty & humility!) I slipped into this song and its mood!
Here, in this song, I am myself not just the two lead singers individually, but also them together! Listen on to see how!

What to say about your singing!!! You are great at maintaining not only sur and taal but you also manage all the subtleties associate with all the songs including the toughies like this one.

Raghu, I am also fascinated by this genre. There is a predefined path in classical based songs and any time one strays from it, it becomes evident. Nayyar Sahab and Madan Mohan Sahab were genius for this genre. A very nice selection and very well sung. Reminds me of “Koi paas aaya” by JJ in this same raag. You handled the high notes well and I liked your “duet” effect in some places.

The 2 voices were superimposed well. The only place where I thought you could have used a partner is when you are presenting two very different lines by Gauri(seduction) and Ganga(devotion)…to make the contrast better.
