My first attempt at what they call a Cross-Pollination, a beautiful song that struck a chord with me, from the movie Deepavali . This song was originally sung by the younger of the two Raja Jrs (sons of IllaiyaRaja), Yuvan Shankar Raja. He is also the composer. I have to admit that this is the first Y.S.R song that I ever listened to . For some reason, I’ve avoided listening to his songs as I always thought Karthik Raja was the better of the two, even without hearing any of Yuvan’s songs.Again, the only reason I even went and heard the original was when this song was covered by SriVidya and Nalini , both of whom I’m a huge fan of. I realize Ive missed out on quite a of bit the goodies, but its not too late :))
This genre of singing is something I normally don’t attempt,but I couldn’t resist doing this, simply for the love of the song, even though it was a bit of a strain on my vocal chords.The song is a pathos song where the lover begs his sweet-heart to not leave him. I think this song is going to be very close to my heart for a very long time.
Vishnu Mohan has done the mixing for this. I wasn’t expecting this until Sunday since Vishnu had some shows to attend to before that. I was pleasantly surprised to see this waiting for me this morning in my inbox.Thanks a ton , Vishnu for this gesture. I might have enjoyed it more had I known the language but as always I admire the melody. This was a nice track with some Sarod or Sarangi played nicely on Western beats. Enjoyed your singing too. Nice mix also.

Awesome singing, loved it, Priya! Its not at all an easy song, since you have to use falsetto all along for this song while modulating. You did fabulous… so proud of you, and thrilled to be collaborating with you. Great mix from Vishnu as always! :-)
I’m a bit into open-throated singing, so I’m curious how this song would sound done in a lower scale in natural voice. After all, love hears any kind of voice?

This is my favourite YSR song……a very melodious number….
You have rendered it really well in your distinct nice voice…the feel was good….the high portions need a bit attention……but that does not take really take the sheen away from the song……loved it….keep it up….
