Happy to be presenting my next song from one of my favorite compositions of A.R.Rahman, Margazhi Poove from the Tamil movie May Madham. I would rate this among the top 10 songs from Rahman’s stable. This movie did not do very well at the box office but had some outstanding songs. I’m sure many Muzibians have attempted this beautiful number. This is also one of those songs which mostly every vocalist would love to attempt, including myself. Although this is considered a classical number, my take is very unclassical :))So please forgive any technical lapses you may come across in my version.Also,I have sung this song at one note lower than the original scale.
Thanks again to Anbu Anna for helping mix the song.As always , he has done a wonderful job with the mixing and adding the effects.

Good rendition, Priya. Have heard the Hindi version of this song, and I think Tamizh version is so much nicer! High notes were really nicely done, and your voice was sounding so beautiful in this range! Very nice mix from Anbu Anna. :-)

Priya…used to love this song when it first came out in 2000 I guess. You have covered this beautifully for the most part….this is a tough song when it comes to breath sustains…so hats off. Just felt that everytime you sing Margazhi….it could be a little soft ….but overall liked it very much. Love the use of the bamboo flute in this comp. You sounded like kavitha a bit :)

Very good attempt Priya of this toughie. A few spots could be polished to improve on pitching and trailing notes. The alaap toward the end can also be refined. Not an easy song to attempt for sure, and you have done a good job.

R’ber covering this almost 3 years ago, Priya :) Voice suits the song, Priya and an awesome attempt as well. Started off a little pitchy in the charanam, but you settled in as it progressed! A few places like Or idam and moodavum illai were done well!

Excellent rendition…. As close as possible to the original…. Sometimes, I really thought it is original…. If I keep doing something else on the computer while listening to this, or I get glued in to your song, either ways, I never came across a single jarring note and the humming at the end – marvelous! Great, natural voice too…. Is it a recording issue? I get to here something like “Margadi” instead of “Margazhi”?

How did I not listen to this before?!!
When this movie got released, I liked this song very much that I listened to it many times. I listened to it so many times that I got bored of it. Now when the song comes in my car songs list, I simply skip it :-)
Midway through the song, I completely forgot that I was listening to you and as usual, I wanted to skip the song :-).
Every syllabe, every minute modulations are all in place. The humming and the chorus have been done gloriously. This is amazing!!!
Special mention to Anbu for mixing – I think your voice by itself would sound ethereal, but the mixing does elevate the voice to another level.
You revived my interest in this song. Thanks for that. I will replace the original song with yours in the car songs list :-)

Priya ma’m, very nice song selection. I got attracted to this song as its open with ‘Suprabatham’ prelude, which was part of my early life.
To be on the franker side, I was under the belief that this song can’t be presented or reproduced as it is, but I need to accept that was not the case, you did very well ma’m.
