How to get on to music chart?

Hi
We launched buzzing music charts with the new design and the response has been great. It is also a great tool to show new visitors the kind of awesome music the community is creating.
However I think there is a lot of confusion on how charts work and how you can get onto charts. I thought of clearing it up a little bit :)
Why does it matter to get onto the charts
- You get a lot of visiblity once you are on the buzzing charts. A lot of songs tend to stay there for a couple of weeks because of this visibility
- Soon we will be adding more ways to spread the music on the charts to the outside world so that would mean even more visibility
- Its cool to be there … isn’t it? :)
How to get onto the charts
- Charts are computed based on a lot of factors such as play count, no of comments, rating and no. of times a song has been favorited. The data taken into consideration is of the last week.
- Comments by user who uploaded the song do not matter. Also we count only unique comments so multiple comments by another user don’t add anything more.
- Rating and your music being favorited is pretty important as those factors say a lot about the appeal of your music
- In general its not possible to play your song 100 times and get onto the charts … so avoid it :)
In general the idea is to grow your network and get more people to listen to your music and express their views on it. Remember that more friends you have in your network, higher the chance of getting visibility for your music. An easy way to grow your network is to invite friends

Hi Prateek….
Good that you started this topic…
While I do not have any major issues on anything that you have said above, I feel that we need to have a time bar for the songs. What I mean by this is that songs which are uploaded about 5-6 months ago are even now featuring in the charts. You should take them out of the race…. May be you can fix a time bar for each song….after which though it will be there for everyone to listen, rate and comment, but would be out of the race to be in the weekly releasing charts as above…
In my opinion 2 months would be ideal. No song older than 2 months should be taken in to consideration while arriving at the top 10 songs….
