Pradip Sir.I agree with you…the quality of strings are awesome…The only point was there was a possibility of using a better tone which would have made this 200% professional venture though its non commercial. And to get something done by Anil ettan is difficult considering his schedules. Definitely this is awesome in all respects.

Pradip, what a lovely song you have gifted us with! You have sung this with your natural brilliance-singing an original requires giving original expressions, the singer’s interpretation, which you have done exceptionally well.
I have all praise for the romantic lyrics, the superb composition of Rajesh, and masterful arrangements by Anil. This is an all Muziboo effort which should make all of us proud. A 5/5 to each one of you seperately.
It is a pity that this song is confined to this forum. It should take its rightful place in some album. Visualising the song and offering for public telecast would be a good idea.

Pradip- very well sung; I did not understand a word but even before reading the translation you’ve given, I felt the song.

It takes a seasoned singer to sing so effortlessly on an unusual time signature like this. Anil’s arrangement was uncomplicated and apt, and your writeup led me to Rajesh Raman’s profile who I think is very talented as well.

This is one song, which I hear daily :). The expressions given by you while singing the song would have made the poet happy I am definitely sure. Dona chechi is one of the poets who has captured my heart with her beautiful lines. She has done great justice to all the people out there who are in love and those who are yet to fall in love :). Rajeshji the most brilliant composer I have come across in recent times. He is an amazing singer, but I feel that composing is something innate for him. Anil B.S also is a rare gem. He has aptly put music for this song not losing the simplicity of it with a lot of music. It is overall a really good package for the music lovers.

One small thing in the song at the charanam you have written “Virayaarnna chundil ninnanayunna then kanam” It is like this though “Virayaarnna chundil ninnanadarunna then kanam”.

Also, the best person to translate it will be Dona Chechi. But I will try and get into her shoes. Most of what I thought is what you have written already. Maybe a refined version.

This is awesome. I don’t know which one gives me that haunting feel. Is that Pradip’s singing or Rajesh’s melody (tune)? I really cannot separate those two out. That is the true success of a composer-singer combo. A singer needs to exactly know what the composer has in his mind….and Pradip, I really felt you absorbed everything from rajesh’s mind and poured it from your heart!

Hi All! I am running out of words to express my thanks to all for listening, commenting and favouring Ethra Naalingane. Here is the storyline… :-)

Dona had sent me the lyrics in Jun 2008 , I had just completed a house move in London and did not have the recording gear set up, so recorded the song on my Mobile phone :-). Dona requested Anil ji for the background track, and I should say the track gave new dimensions of pathos to the song…brilliant work by Anilji.

We were extremely happy when Pradipettan liked the song and agreed to record it. I remember, I had phoned my parents and boasted about me working with Pradipettan :-). The vibrato and depth in Pradipji’s voice gave life to the soulful lyrics. Thanks to Dona for introducing me to Pradipettan and Anilji through this song.

The subtle anya swaram (the smaller gaandhaaram) in “miNduvaan” in charanam 2 shows the classiness of both the composer and singer. Although this song is primarily set in the ‘feel’ of vasanthi, those mild and un-infringing walkouts stand as beautiful embellishments. The violin parts are just awesome. Great rendition by Pradip and a tasteful composition by Rajesh based on the reflective lyrics. Good work team.
