vaaya konjum Lyrics & Chords

This is a tamil song for all the nagged husbands out there!

All music was improvised live on my own free software musical instrument called din (see http://code.google.com/p/din) and recorded live on an Edirol R-09. No editing or processing was done except for a small fade out at the very end in Audacity.

The song is based on the blues scale in the key of C.

On din, each note is assigned to a key on the laptop keyboard. 3 octaves can be played. There is a delay line of 1 second duration, with feedback at 0.9 (max is 1.0) and volume at 0.25 (max is 1.0) which gives a echoing backdrop for me to sing. A similar version of din was used for my other tamil blues song: Podhuma Wheynuma also hosted on muziboo.

I’m obviously inspired by Blues music of John Lee Hooker, Howling Wolf, Lead Belly etc but also the tamil story telling musical form: Villupattu.

I like a wandering minstrel kind of music making but want it to be modern and produce all sound live thru my own instruments and voice.
