A friend of mine insists I should work harder to promote my free software musical instrument called din. The penny dropped when I learnt the famous music director Mr Harris Jayaraj was a classmate at school. I had to make a demo but didnt want it to be boring nor sound desperate!

I extracted a 3 second sample from one of his super hit songs Vaseegara to lay the groove. I rap in English with a Tamil accent parodying someone vernacular desperate to get that life changing break in the movies, found the key note (the Sa) of the song using din, played a few phrases on din in the hindustani raga Todi (S r g m P d n S, Sa and ma are drones in the groove sample instead of Sa and Pa in raga Todi) and finally spliced in Bombay Jayashree!

The rapping was inspired by my Director at BITS, Pilani Dr. S Venkateswaran who was a good speaker but his Tamil accent was a bit overpowering if you know what I mean :) I also like the way Osho breaks up words into syllables and hisses like a snake at the end of sentences. And of course the interrogation of Neo in The Matrix (part I) by one of the agents.
