Nitin, glad you are back with this composition after what has been a tough few months for you. Beautiful lyrics and arrangement, the transition in the second antara was beautiful.

Unni, superb singing and expressions. The volume modulations and alaap was wonderful. The only nitpik would be clarity of the lower registers.

One thing I always infer from your writing be it about he music you deliver or be the lyrics associated with your songs, is a genuineness which has become a rarity in the (commercialized) composing world. Your honest admission as to how you find yourself unable to classify your own song tells me the candidness of an exploratory mind without frills.

And ya…coming to the marriage part – my wife is from the North and I am from the south – a converse arrangement of yours. Thus, I really empathize with and appreciate your choice of singers to ensure a polarized interpretation of the tune however with a harmonious output.

As a fellow composer, I have certain predispositions (I am sure all composers have some) about the choice of singers for my compositions. Some of the criteria include the ease of the singer in a particular language of rendition, the classical background and of course the requirement of the color of the song. I certainly think you have chosen them well and wisely for the song.

Singers Unni and Kuhoo have done a nice job. Unni’s aalaps had more variety in my opinion. Since this song primarily is based on a piano background, I was hoping for a nice piano solo in the middle which unfortunately was not there. However, that is only a personal wishful thinking and not something that I would observe as a “criticism”. The song was pretty serene and hummable.

Mujhe lagaa ki “tumse pehle meri zindagi” mein “ki” chhoot gayaa hai……. yaani ki “tumse pehle ki meri zindagi” honaa chahiye tha. “ki” nahi rakhne pe meaning saaf nahi aa rahaa.

Ye mera khyaal hai…aapki soch alag bhi ho sakti hai…. phir bhi “ki” rakh kar padhne ki koshish kijiyega.

I am so happy with the outcome. Thanks Nitin a ton and kuhoo di… For this wonderful collaboration.

The best thing i enjoyed is the making of the song. I was privileged to be with him while he was making the song, from start till the last end mixing. I was wowed in lot of places . especially when he changed the mood by doing raga bhedam and also the mirror image type construction of melody.
I was explained by nitin on the notes so that i could give the alaap. Even that also he managed to communicate how he wanted. So all the credits i will give to Nitin Dubey.

Every details in this song was already visualized before rendering. Nitin you are a genius.

@Rekha, By good wishes of all the people around me, I have managed to release few original songs as an album titled “kuhoo kuhoo bole koyaliya” which has been released online recently on amazon.com, hungama.com etc. Soon it will hit the iTunes as well. I am blessed to have worked with talented musicians & lyricists all this while and thank them from the bottom of my heart. Hope to take more steps ahead in music :) Hopefully bollywood numbers in this life :D

The moods that u explore in ur songs are amazing man.Though the arrangements/tempo seem alike from song to song, the chord progressions are amazing. Also, seems like u write the lyrics first and then the tune comes.I wont be suprised if u listen to a lot of jagjit singh or any ghazal artist.

PS: i just like to analyze the personalities/thinking/influences of composers.

The first thing that came to my mind when I finished listening to this song was “Sweet”!!I had a smile on my face… I thought this song had more of the feel of love than darkness… May be I chose that over darkness… Absolutely fantastic feel for a drive on a cloudy evening… :)

I think the lyrics have been really well written… I could picture it… Unni and Kuhoo have rendered the song really well too… I was imagining you and Supreetha… ;)

I did make some observations after giving this song a closer look… Just thought I’ll share my opinion…

- As I see the driving force for the song is the feel and lyrics… Overall arrangement probably been kept simple for this reason… The vocals could have been a little more on the upfront or brighter side…

- I found the drum kit sounding dry (lacking body)…

- A little correction on Kuhoo’s track (‘S’ on muddaton se part)… Sounds like a different take… ;)

- It might have probably sounded like Cliche, but I imagined cutting all the tracks off and just letting Unni’s track with the reverb and a little delay (like how it is for the alaap in the end) at “Bhool chuka hun”

These observations obviously are nothing that are making the song less sweet now… The song still sounds brilliant and it goes to my favorite… Thanks all of you for such good work… Great collaboration… Keep it up…

Did not quite get which part you felt as a different take. “muddaton se” after “gehre kohre the” ? If it is so, then it wasnt a different take :)

Yeah… It is the first time you sing gehre kohre the… It being a different take from the rest of the parts was just a guess… The main thing that I noticed was the “Sa” sound when you say “Muddaton SE”, the high frequencies almost peak… That is what I was pointing too… It could have been corrected while mixing… :)
