Sunny bhai ….m downloading all the softwares you mentioned above except Flux……not getting it….Only spring bundle is there but not seeded…. Basic control parametres would be helpful…. like specially reverbs & ears can only help when you know how to use these & when you are close to it….n for that need to know how to make these softwares work….n that too need to know the chain of use…. We even don’t know half the things…like what are the fuctions of each things….what they do n how they effect the mixing…. simple basics should be known otherwise it will produce no sound except frustration….

Shampak.

@Shri, the short answer is depends on your budget and seriousness. The detailed answer for many others who may be interested is below:

Bare Minimum Hardware (Just because you want to experiment your hobby):
>A Reasonable PC/Laptop with 3 GB RAM on XP or 4GB on Vista/WIndows7 (Considering you are a PC User).
>A reasonable USB Mic like M-Audio Producer.

For Karaoke recordings, you just need Audacity to start with. For more options read ahead.

For more seriousness :
> An Audio Interface like M-Audio Fastrack or MBOX2 for Windows or Apogee Duet for Mac.
>A Condenser Mic like M-Audio Nova, AKG Perception etc…(Many more exist)

Software:

“0” Dollars : Audacity
40-100 Dollars : Sony Acid Studio,Mixstar,M-Audio session, Pro Tools Studio etc.
101-500 Dollars : Acid Pro 7, Cakewalk Sonar, Pro Tools LE 8 & list goes on

For Creative Passion:
If you have more creative mind and want to create new songs, then you may prefer to Use a lot of Sound Library, Samples, Loops etc that come with the software like Sony Acid Pro, Magix, Fruity Loops etc.

Mastering Software only comes to picture for new songs as rightly mentioned by Jay and usually for your first album get it mastered outside instead of investing big money on those plugins like Sound Forge, Adobe Audition,Waves, Izotope, Wavelab etc.

In any case the hobby begins with the cheapest USB Mic available until one starts to feel the pain of rejection due to bad mix, bad voice quality etc.

If you are a trained vocalist, then never ever invest in cheap Mics because those are definitely a waste of your time & money.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

NOTE: If you are in India and plan to stay there for long, then I’ve heard you don’t need to spend any money on software ;-) although its hurting those creative companies that caused such revolution in home recording. But Beware of cyber cops.
