Why does Muziboo charge

Edited

Nithya Muziboo staff posted

Hi Muzibians,

Prateek and I, have lately received mails from a few of you asking us why we charge for Pro accounts. This is a question that we sincerely appreciate because this gives us the encouragement that you love us enough to at-least give us a chance to offer an explanation.

What makes us extremely sad is some of you deleting your songs with hundreds of comments, worse still, deleting your accounts with hundreds of friends because you have hit the limit.

We felt, it was our responsibility to let you all understand what goes on behind Muziboo.

I sincerely ask of you all to go through the following post.

Why do we charge for Pro

If you have something to say, please leave your comments here. We would be more than happy to respond to you.

Thanks for all the encouragement and support that you all have extended!

I’ve been a Muziboo member for the last 1.5 yrs (God it feels like a lot longer than that) and a pro member now for over a yr. Just renewed my membership a couple of weeks back. I wanted to just everyone know that its the best 30 bucks I’ve spent. Like I’ve stated earlier, I stopped singing back in 02 (when I left college) and had not been singing till 07. It left a big void in my life. Sudeip, who’s always been a big part of my musical journey introduced me to Muziboo. I havent looked back since. Even back then I remember receiving my first comment from DJ Deepak and all the encouragement I received from the folks here. Over time, all the members have made me feel like I’m part of a family and have encourage me tremendously. If you would like to see how far I’ve come, just listen to my initial uploads. All the feedback from muziboo has helped me become a more versatile singer and is helping me realize my true potential. Muziboo has also given me some wonderful friends which is equally important to me. Over time, my role has changed from a person who received from the community to someone who contributes to the community. It is very fulfilling to help members and see how they grow and eventually help others. I see a lot of examples of this everyday :) So in short here are the reasons why I think all of you should consider going pro (or renewing their pro accounts):

1. The Best Music Community on the planet! – This is by far the biggest reason. There is no other community that is this active and encouraging. People help each other become better musicians and better human beings in some cases. You get to build great frendships that will stay with you for the rest of your lives. To me, you cant put a price tag on this.

2.Muziboo is feature rich – I am a member of Soundclick, MySpace, Facebook Music Profile and then Muziboo. I can honestly state that no other platform gives you as many features (Reordering, Albums, Embedded player, Statistics to name a few).

3. Muziboo brings opportunities – Couple of months back, I got selected by Sonu Niigaam for the MJ Tribute. This opportunity was brought to my attention by a fellow member (Smitha Passanha), most of my friends on muziboo supported me and posted comments on Sonu’s page to pick me. I honestly believe that without Muziboo I would never have received the exposure that I have today (and I see it everyday). There are many other examples of this.

4. Muziboo wont live without our support – We all need to take some ownership of this community. Prateek and Nithya are working on this fulltime, and without our support I dont know how long they will be able to do this. We pay for TV, we pay for internet, we pay for countless other things that we care about. So if Muziboo is now a part of your life, we should all take ownership and help out and become pros.

5. Muziboo improves your quality of life – There are many of us who have singing talent but are so stuck with our day to day lives that we dont take time out for ourselves in following our hearts and doing what we are passionate about – SINGING! Muziboo gives us that opportunity and it also gives us the opportunity to interact with like minded people thereby improving our days and making us more content and fulfilled.

6. Muziboo helps us improve our soft skills – This is something that is underappreciated I feel. I personally feel that muziboo helps us improve soft skills like leadership and gives us the opportunity to mentor others and help others in their musical journey. On the flip side, it helps newbies see others do these kinda things and helps them grow.

Having worked with few web development project , i understand the efforts it need to keep a website live, maintenance, backup data(muziboo must have huge volume of data) etc…. Muziboo is realy a great community and it add more quality to our life and help improve our taste to music.I prefer to listen to muziboo tracks than to original recordings. Cmon guys! Pay up……i wrk in the industry & I understand the case of wanting music stuph free as well as the agony of consumers not wanting to pay up!

Lets put it simply……wikipedia puts up a donate by PayPal with a neat lil meter showing progress & the bloody thing starts filling up….huge sums……only coz ppl like it and feel like contributing towards the cause.

This is just the same way! Ur Pro a/c goes towards maintaining this gr8 community & providing a platform to many amateurs like YOU who would get an ideal platform!

I remember tht back then when Muziboo had just started, i had mentioned that the best part tht distinguishes Muziboo frm the others I`ve seen – sites or forums, is tht there is a human touch behind this project……things have changed, features added, awareness built & loads of new enthusiasts trickling in……and this is one part which hasnt changed……its gr8 to see both Pratik & Nitya being as interested in everything happening on this platform….

So cmon guys! Support them! :)

Now wherez my free Pro a/c? :o)

Muziboo has become a part and parcel of our lives now. Raj and I religiously listen to all the talented singers/composers here in Muziboo and find pleasure in sharing our work. Because of Muziboo, I feel more confident about my singing, and I think I have improved in many ways. Not only in the quality in singing but also in the mixing and recording. Since we get such wonderful service from Muziboo, I see no harm in paying an annual membership fee; I just renewed my account too. Muziboo is the best available site for uploading your music and for meeting other like-minded people.

If Muziboo has become a part of your lives and you feel it is important to you…. you should not think twice about paying for the service provided. It’s totally worth it. The appreciation & the constructive criticism I have received from here has helped me learn a lot and that is priceless!!!

Warm regards

All I can say is that its worth every penny. I personally feel that I have improved as a singer, thanks to the critics and encouragers. Always I relish cheering and supporting everyone to the best of my ability because we share the same passion for music and every singer or musician needs some support. I have made some wonderful friends here and have been astonished by the wealth of talent we have on this site. To sum it up, I spend near about an hour daily…listening and commenting….thats the time when I totally relax. This is a great site for passing your time.

Also living in the US, life becomes really dull during the winters…what more can you ask for your money. Imagine 8 inches of snow or temperature like 5 F for a span of 5 months, what a better way to spend your time rather than watching movies.

My younger kid tell me my name should be “SreeHarshan Muziboo” ….now thats priceless …LOL

Very well-said, all of you! I use Muziboo as a tool for improving my singing abilities and I love to listen, comment and encourage everyone here. I feel ON TOP of the world when someone rates my song a 5! Now the last I saw ratings was on SaReGaMaPa! I also think I’ve met some really wonderful people here.
I don’t see any reason why there shouldn’t be a Pro-membership charge – that will make this service sustain itself and get more feature-rich, thereby continuing to help every singer/artist/musician showcase and improve their talents.
I do have some feature requests though!
Thanks,
Sudha
