I would have to agree Led Zepplin is one of the greatest rock bands ever.Its hard for me to imagine there is people in this world that have never listened to them.There are other bands just as talented,they just dont play “IT” the way your soul wants to hear it. Zep just rings true.

I think the trend in this generation is hip hop. I see teens everywhere listening to it and trying to imitate the rappers. I think for the old school rock generation, its not easy to relate to them :)

I am seeing a resurgence of kids wanting to play music instruments here in the US because of Guitar Hero. I am also getting more music students from that movement.My son/daughter’s friends find out i play and have my own music theory course, gets extra money coming to me.This is a good thing. I also teach Bass,piano,and some drums.In my opinion ALL music is good.Though i have not seen no Rap Hero yet Rappers still have huge talent.

I think Prateek Daya is absolutely correct. Hip hop is for the now generation. I am an old school Zeplin, Hendrix, Cream – an old guy. I’ve written 18 songs all in the Rock category. It’s what I grew up with. Accept for the young guys who want to play rock guitar, the majority of people are trending toward hip hop and rap. Heavy metal and rock are kept alive by my fellow guitar players in a million dollar industry. Hip Hop and Rap are now a billion dollar industry.

Dream Theatre probably play the most difficult music. Many put them on a pedestal for just that reason. But the lesson here is that Dream Theatre are not a household word like: Elvis, The Beatles, Micheal Jackson etc. Why? Because the John Q Public music lover wants simplicity in a complicated world. Personality, charisma, a danceable beat, words they can relate to, a tune they can whistle to or hum to, This is what moves the main stream: simplicity.
