Murali … very nice rendition and your voice is very good as usual and I could hear that you have given it one of your best efforts with passion. Firstly, very well done and my congrats on this song … not that easy I know.

But you know what?! Somehow this rendition did not reach my heart and I am a bit sad about that actually because your effort was really there.

I will try to break down the things that didn’t work for me:
- Somehow the pining (urugals) was not maintained in the song I felt. I think it lost its soft touch a bit. Notes should be just touched and sustained … couldn’t feel that pining sustain where it was needed.
- Then, in first pallavi your singing is slighlty slower than the beat and dragging … although it is a slow song, it is still very important to maintain tempo, otherwise it sounds a bit out of the feel.
- Lastly, the extra sangadhis that you gave did not work in all places. In some places it was a bit out of place and did not blend with the feel. This is where experience comes in and one has to be careful what will sound good and what may actually clash a bit.

In any case, it was truly a nice rendition and I am only being an encouraging critic. Easy to hear and give comments, than actually sing it I well know!. But still we aspire for voices like yours to go to better heights!.

I knew about the rhythm in the palalvi and left it deliberately since my feeling was that little bit off from the beat is fine for this song.I take it as positive and a learning experience and wanted to see how different people look at it…

Thanks for your feedback and criticism which is very constructive.

I agree that some of those improvisations were overdose…I have done this version mainly to try some improvisations not concentrating on the original situation in the movie…Last year I sung this many Live shows and it was well accepted even though I improvised very close to this.But its good to hear from such a community which has lots of talented musicians and keep it as a learning for future renditions.

I dont agree with some of the comments saying that feel was totally missing although its true that some improvisations took away the feel in certain phrases.
