Nice job guys. Its been so long since I heard this. Murali, When you end words (Ponveene, Ennunnil), I thought you extended the words more than you should. I am guilty of the same thing at times :-) But other than that you’ve sung beautifully. Rashmi, very good singing!

Something odd about the mix. The voices were not balanced. Murali’s levels were higher. That needs to be worked on.

Rashmi— very beautiful voice for this song, very very nice!!

Murali— Beautiful pick for your voice, excepting there was this constant difference in the mix as far the effects on both your voices are concerned. Felt your volume was a little higher than Rashmi’s as well.

Paranderunnu line was very nicely done by you Murali.

Very good rendition. Both of you sang with good feel. Enjoyed listening to this.
From a mixing standpoint, voices were not well balanced. Rashmi’s vocals were clearer and Murali’s vocals did not sound balanced.

being so late here….I particularly liked the mixing and recording….very thorough and professional,except I found Murali’s voice ‘nearer’ than Rashmi’s voice….

I feel that you should rework on the voice mix – The voice levels and the effects.

Rashmi,a slight improvement in sur and fluency in harkat at some places will make it just perfect.

Murali, Rashmi – great job ! One of my favorite songs and both of you sound great.

Murali, you have a unique voice (neither like MGS nor like KJY) and I really mean it as a compliment. Like some others have pointed out, the extra-extensions and a bit of timing issues (both are related) is all that I could notice in this rendition; but you have compensated it with the extra-feel. Sometimes, singers like to take their own time to ensure 110% expression – I have seen this even in great singers when they sing live. With a hope that I wouldn’t be cyber-beaten, let me say that even SPB (one of my most favorite singers) does this while singing live and keeps the orchestra on tenterhooks ! :-)

Nice song and nicely sung. (Have not heard the original, which can be a plus in some cases, as I can comment without any comparisons!).

This song is based on ‘Kharaharapriya’ (S R2 G2 M1 P D2 N2 S); in Hindustani music the equivalent is the ‘Kafi’ Thaat. A very popular raga with numerous ‘janya’ (or children) ragas associated with it.

You guys sang well but if I was in the recording control room (pleasantly dreaming here!), I would have worked you guys harder for better perfection. The tune is not a very difficult one, so it is expected to have pin-point accuracy in rendering this with sweet expression. Although both of you did OK with no noticeable flaws, that sharp edge to the singing was not present in laying down the phrase patterns. This song should grab the listener by the ears and pour in the etched out notes of this scale to captivated listeners.

I felt that your interpretation of this song was to take it in an easy flow style. I differ in this opinion as the notes did not display their intense beauty and there was a sense of lost opportunity.

Listening first time it was good, but to make me listen again … and again … I wanted more precision and dynamism in the delivery.

Both of you have good voices and thanks for what was a soothing rendition … but there is scope for added sonic spice in this one!

Hey guys! this is one song most loved by the malayali crowd.
Murali as much as i appreciate also like to point out the negatives too. Arvind with Murali Venkatraman’s suggestions are perfect.
