have heard this song before, in a shaan’s album though :)

Start of both stanzas were very well done. Your hummings are very non-chalant, casual…. nice! Feel through the song is intact.

Aashiq hoon main— each time is a little shaky.A few pitching issues here and there (nahin tho aur hain for instance.,)

Overall, perfect pick for your voice!

Long time man, glad to hear you sing after a break.

Apt selection of song for your voice. Very well sung, with right emotions and expressions. I felt little bit shaky when you sang “Aashique Hoon Mein”, but rest of the song was awesome dude. Expecting more songs from you.

Welcome back Vishal. Nicely done. Expressions were terrific. I thought the mix was good too. Maybe a little too sharp. One observation I’ve made about your singing is that you knowingly or unknowingly try to impersonate the original singer. I dont think you need to do that. I think you should try to add a little Vishal effect into the covers :-). I think you’ll surprise yourself!

George – Appreciate the feedback ! Still learning about mixing …Kabhi accha aata hai kabhi nahi ;-) ……Agree to your views but I just do it knowingly for fun…:-) …I have done few covers in my style too …I sing in my voice only but I try to adapt the style…each singer has its individual style and its a fun process to learn from them …and I think I do a better job at that than most ;-) …lol ….Basically I want to be flexible with my singing style and add everything that I learnt from these singers …Some people adapt to just one style and then no matter what song they sing, it always sounds as if sung by Rafi/Kishore etc …:-) ……Some people may not agree but I don’t see any harm in following your idols as long as you are capable of singing in your own voice too…I think given a totally new song, I could add my personality to it …:-) …Every big shot singer has started off after following their idols….be it Lata, Mukesh, Sanu, Sunidhi, Sonu etc …and impersonating ability is a must for a Playback singer !….after all they are singing for someone else :-) ….

Just my thoughts :-) …

Makes sense man. It was just an observation from my end more than anything else. Wasnt sure if it was intentional or not. If the intention of doing the cover was to recreate the original voice and effect, then you’ve succeeded. I guess I come from a totally different school of thought. As you rightly pointed out, there is nothing wrong with following your idols. I only feel that if you constantly try to recreate the tone of the original singer, you will find it harder to find your own identity.

George – I totally follow you but I was just saying there is a method to my madness ;-) …lol …I have been asked this question earlier too … …The intention wasn’t to recreate the original voice but the expressions, voice throw, style….because of this the voice may seem similar but everyone will agree that there is a day light difference between my voice and Shaan’s voice ;-) …lol ….

I do believe every song is made by keeping in mind a particular singer and his singing style, and I try to recreate that :-) ………Suresh Wadkar can also sing the same song…technically and expressions wise there won’t be any fault but junta would prefer Shaan for such songs ;-)

Usually it is harder getting out of one particular singing style but since I can adopt to any, I believe it shouldn’t be a problem for me in future…:-) …I just try to give every song what it needs …I can sing pop song in pop style and a Ghazal in Ghazal gayaki style …:-)….

As I said, this is just for fun man …cause I enjoy it …more like just because I can …hehe :-)) ….
